Not a question as such but an observation. I see stunning showers in new homes with all sorts of fancy shower heads and plumbing however I am amazed to see the tap lever is usually on the wall with the shower head on the furtherest wall from the door. You have to step into the shower and quickly dart back to wait for the right temperature. Come on designers put the tap lever at the door end of the shower. Okay a bit more plumbing involved but definitely worth it. No??

I've seen that before too. I think my ideal situation is the controls somewhere I can reach them from outside the shower and then wait outside for the water to reach temperature.

I think I would like computer controlled shower temps for multiple members of the family, much like they have for air temps in cars these days. For instance, driver #1 likes a temp of 72, while driver #2 likes it warmer. Push a button, done!

An all weather outdoor shower is easily done by locating the mixing valve inside the house and use a coupling shaft to locate the handle on the outside. You must use a standard tub type lower faucet (with the pull up to activate the shower) to allow the system to drain out when the shower is done. You also have to make sure everything slopes in direction of the water flow. We live in Bancroft Ontario so winters are well below freezing and we have been showering outside for 3 winters. Only issue we have is the shower head will freeze so we typically remove it after a shower or shower without it on when really cold. The system has worked well and it helps that nothing special needs to be done by anyone. no inside valves to close etc. Just turn off tap and everything drains.

My line of thought is remove; shower tray, shower panel/door, make bath frame, add drop in bath, jib/tile around bath frame. can the existing drain be used for the plug and can we just add a tap for th bath? Would just have a shower curtain. Just looking for the simplest way to add a bath to the existing shower set up.
