How much does it usually cost to remove wooden floors and replace with carpet?
Comments (3)HI Emily Carpeting bedrooms is only dictated by your budget. The only variable is the price of the carpet, all other costs (installation, smoothedge, underlay) will be the same no matter what you choose. When you say remove wooden floors....do you know what is already installed? If you are only wanting to take the wood from the bedrooms but leave it in hallways etc, then the cost to remove wood planks (laminate?) may be around $20 per m2... A lot depends on how the timber was installed, so I think it's best to get in a professional and get a free quote. Good luck....See MoreFloor tiles?
Comments (2)First be okay with the fact the bathroom tiles might need to be replaced. All of them. Replacing them in the bathroom will have the least impact on the rest of the house and whatever comes out in one piece, can be stored for future cracks. Maybe you can find a similar color but a different size, so it won't look too awkward, just an idea. Taking out a cracked tile is quite easy. Put on some gloves and safety glasses and (carefully) smash the broken tile with a hammer. An old screwdriver or chisel will help you tilt the pieces out. Work from the hole outwards to remove the other tiles. Removing a good tile is nearly impossible. Assuming it is still glued firmly, I'd say impossible. But, if you want to try anyway, you'll need to mill out the grout and then figure out a way to lift the tile.....See MoreOverwhelmed: I don't even know who to hire - Where to start?

Comments (2)For the Australians , Trade Me is NZ's biggest auction website -- our equivalent of Gumtree / EBay haha . As an aside , 30 years ago I worked with this guy we called Frank -- he looked and acted much like Frank Spencer from Some Mothers Do Have Them . He literally went to a garage sale , and bought the garage ! I would say there is no correct answer , as there are lots of variables . The main ones would be your skills , the distance , the materials used , labour at each end , and so on . Something 500kms away , which needs dismantling , and which you need to hire say a truck and HiAb and driver , get a concrete pad laid , permits , and pay to get it put up , then to find the colour isn't right or one window is in the wrong place or similar compromises would be expensive . Galv Steel ones can get creases in the corners , even if moved across town using a trailer , but maybe that is worth taking a risk . I don't want to sound too snobby , but I doubt I'd do a secondhand garage for myself ( I once did move a double carport 30kms , but that was a roof and 6 steel poles , and I have mates with trucks ! ) , my preference is to spend more and end up with something designed to suit the house in as many respects as I can ( i.e. brick if a brick house , tiles if tiled , etc ) . With a rental property , as long as it suits the style of the house , and is better than not having a garage , I would consider it and paint to suit , but even then things like brick would sway my choice ....See MoreRehder Construction, Inc.
