These floors are beautiful! They look like red oak solid wood. By any chance does anyone know the color of the stain and what top finish was used on these floors? Thanks!
The floors are solid red oak (2.5" wide planks). The stain was custom mixed, but is similar to many premixed walnut stains. The finish was a semi gloss moisture cure.
It just happens to be the type of clear coat finish that we used on this project. It provides one of the most durable finishes, but the trend is moving to waterborne finishes (one and two part), which can be great as well.
The oil based top coat gives an amber appearance to the wood and it's lovely. Waterborne top coats offer a different but nice appearance as well. The oil has durability advantages but the waterborne has more environmental advantages. Is there a waterborne finish that you would recommend over another? Thanks.
