I am planning a mid-century modern rehab and have been told that plywood is the period correct material to use on the ceiling. However, yours looks so pristine. Would you share the material you used? Thanks so much.
Sure- it's 3/4" Douglas fir plywood Sealed with two coats of helmsman satin clear natural polyurethane sealer. We cut a 4 X 8 plywood sheet into thirds (about 16" wide x 8') and installed in a running bond pattern. Make sure to place over a 1/2 plywood (cdx or other inexpensive plywood) so you can finish nail at edges without having to worry about hitting rafters/joists.
