If you want light instead of drama, then go for a very pale beige stone. It will echo stone colours in both the concrete and rocks...

The Architect is right in what he is suggesting "a decorative wall" could bring more light into the space. I believe you could apply this on principle....for example you could do a feature "Architectural Mirror"or lots of mirrors on the wall in the right position to reflect light in "Joanna Gain style" then in the same style add an eye catching pendant or wall lights depending on what is best functionally. Remember what you use on the ceiling & walls is important too every surface counts for your situation. Try a satin finish with a cool white like Dulux "St Clair Quarter" or Resene "Black White" Maybe Nancy's suggestions of a skylight is an option for your situation if it allows ? Hi We are torn between a black and a white bathroom vanity. Here are the details of the bathroom: Large marble tiles on floor and up walls. With large round mirror above vanity One feature wall in charcoal hexagons Chrome tapware Concrete basin. We are wondering whether to put the basin on a white concrete top and white vanity front (safe!) OR Black vanity with either white or black top. Love the idea of a black vanity- I think it would really pop with all the grey/white in the tiles/basin etc but would it look odd with a white top (so 3 diff colours grey basin/white top/black vanity front) Better to have a black top? Anyone got an examples to show me? Thanks

The photo gives a bit of an idea , but an inside shot would really be needed , plus an idea of your favourite things . Probably the two best guesses would be art on the walls , and/or plants . Plants would only work if it 2 metres or more deep , but boy could you have fun , with different coloured leaves , textures , heights , leafy plants , cactuses , all sorts . A marble statue or a rock water feature depending on style and taste . Art is more personal -- family photos may be important to you , or you may like WW2 planes , or large colourful abstracts may suit your tastes and draw looks . Other things like a wallpapered feature wall , even timber may work , but you need to suss out what suits YOU -- unless you want a home and garden magazine clone .
