Shutters sound like they would be a great addition to your new almost at the beach house. Is it an open concept? If so while you can change things up a bit you'll want to repeat some element and ensure that everything looks great together. Even the rooms you're thinking of putting drapes in might benefit from shutters or wood blinds for both looks and light/privacy control. Also be aware of how these windows will look from the outside. When choosing fabrics look at your existing furniture for inspiration or a piece of existing art or if buying new furniture think about the windows as you do. Everything in the room ties into each other. Ideally you would have swatches and samples of every finish in the room from flooring to window coverings and everything in between including wall colour, area rugs, bedding ect to help make your final decisions easier.

They currently have wonderful garden centers in Merrifield and Fairfax (both in Fairfax County) and a new one in Gainesville, but they may come further south to wherever you reside. My vote is for the wash but not in bright white and after some selective knot primer in the same tone. You are going to want to selectively primer down about 2/3 of the knots (use a dark white tinted primer), and use a dark white / brown toned off white instead of bright white so the beams still give you dark white on bright - that would be my vote. Consider something like bm stingray tinted primer and wash on the beams. You can add glaze for more working time or put down dropcloths and use water to cut it into a wash. Test it on some other raw wood that has had tannins develop for a few years. Then put it against your white wall - your husband will get the contrast and wood grain but you'll get the quiet palette you were hoping for. They both will have architectural depth and interest.

Total reno of bathroom and ensuite. Need to keep in cream tones not grey as bathroom door needs to stay cream as per all other doors in house and interior colours. Sampled grey tone tiles and they clashed. New vanity below, light oak, pic of old ensuite, and ideas. Want to keep wall and floor at 600x600mm. Selling house so wide appeal needed. Darker floor and white walls ( by either dark tiles or a darker timber effect floor as pics) OR white floor and walls (do they need dark grout as per example below)? Will 600x600mm work for both floor and walls. Will 2x 600mm work up walls, dont want to go 3 high. Doing this to keep costs down. Painting everything else white and installing white shutters. Showers to remain as is, glass with aluminum frame.
