These types of showers are great for wheelchair accessibility although they tend to work better (and less long term problems) on a 1st floor, slab on grade. Typically, the waterproofing hot mop pan will extend 12" or more beyond the glass enclosure just to make sure sitting water doesn't cause problems. There's also a sweep at the sill to keep water from going under the door.
