This is engineered hardwood, the great thing about engineered is that it is compatible with under floor heating systems and will be available in many widths, lenghts & styles. You will find that generally there are two thicknesses 15mm & 20mm this is down to the top layer thickness we call it the wear layer - it important when you buy engineered that you buy it with a hardwood reverse and not softwood, softwood can make it warp but will be cheaper. It will be available pre-finished and be offered with a range of finishing accessories as well as installation materials, glues, under lays etc.
Where from:
Well this comes down to how long you want it to last and how much you want to pay. Many places do it for example - floors to go, wickes & B & Q but they probably won't offer you an advisory service and fitting and maintenance. You will find companies like Denby Kitchen Company will have a direct manufacturer supplier, used because of all of the above and more and will be specified more because of the quality rather than the price. If you are near to us in Denby Dale we would love to show you the product here at our showroom, go through the range and explain the different price options.
Karndean:
If you are not familiar with Karndean this is LVT (luxury Vinyl Tile) and is offered to look both like tlies and in your case like wood plank flooring - it is maintenance free and much much easier to lay and will be a cheaper option as well. We are also a Karndean dealer and have the full range here at our showroom to show you.
I hope this helps - do be careful that who ever is selling you the product also offers you the right advise on fitting and maintenance !
