Master bathroom update needed!

I would like to update this glass block window...thinking about plantation shutters but not sure how it will look over the busy look of the blocks. Also saw an idea for sheers but seems washed out. Of course, those finials will be removed (I just used to get idea of how panels might look.) Paint is now macadamia but will be going to some shade of soothing gray.

I would bite the bullet and replace the window with a frosted glass pane. Any sort of window treatment on top of the glass blocks will look out of place.

I agree with Sabrina above, that a frosted glass window is much preferable . Just make sure it is TEMPERED to meet code in case one were to fall against it, and depending what part of the country you are, I'd probably recommend spending the extra 20% to get it triple paned, so that it isn't so cold when you're taking a bath in midwinter. The good news here is that fixed windows are far less expensive than operable ones. Good luck!

Do you want this to be a big reno? meaning, will you replace things totally or do you want to work with what you have mostly? will you add a toilet to the bathroom? if you replace the vanity, you can put in a larger one curving around the corner with a medicine cabinet above. If you replace the shower with one flat on the ground, you can also put in clear doors for bigger visual space. how about re-painting as well

I agree with emily. if you want leave connections and/or a little extra room for what you don't want, but feel you may need for resale. I think the tub is a pretty important item. wet room not at all, and shower is give or take. i would prefer a big shower and a tub for soaking in, but I have always had the combo. I remember my mom built during big wet bar craze, she did not care for one. had space built, capped off connections and use as a closet. Now it is 35 years later, everyone wants to buy and tear down. Darned if you do, darned if you don't. i agree, I would also really like the separate toilet, we are not share everything people.

thank you for your comment. we are looking at using the interior wall, opposite the sink, for ceiling height cupboards utilising the wall cavities so as not to crowd the thoroughfare. I will keep a look out for replacement wooden windows. i would like to move them to the left so as to create more space in the corner area for hopefully a fridge? what to do with the fridge?

Hi all, we have decided to update our second bathroom which will primarily be used by our 6 year old son. I want to make the bathroom feel more like his own space. We are thinking of updating the vanity (or at the very least sink and taps), mirror, possibly the wall color and update shower. I need ideas on what I can do to make this a kids bathroom but also take into account minor changes I can make as he grows older. I will take a better picture tonight.

Amy: depending on the view out there, it can just as easily be a clear glass window; the shutters will take care of the privacy issue. And you can also do plantings outside to both enjoy and help with privacy. Here's one like yours where the view was of the neighbor's garage, so we chose to feature a custom stained glass by Judy Gorsuch Collins, which is spotlit from the outside at night1
