Those ideas are great / what a difference already. We were thinking of ranch sliders/ bi folds right along the front and taking out the triangular windows at the top as they are off set and filling that in with lineaboard painted a copper colour, and adding a more extensive deck. Thinking of taupe/grey paint on the roughcast at the bottom and lighter lineaboard or of the same taupe/grey at the top. Copper colours on the garage door, on the linea joins on the top half and around the soffits. What about the garage door being a block design e.g 5 x 4 block type look?Then it would match the entrance door. and covering in the windows at the bottom ( that's all garage underneath and is well lit with lights inside ). the outside light looks cool - maybe in copper? are you able to produce that for us, we would love to see if the concept works. I'm quite lucky that we have quite a large bathroom for over here. There all normally so small in older homes! I have a a lot of space to fill and was only going to use the tiles in the bath and on the floor. I find fully tiled bathrooms very very confining. White wall for the rest, apparently, according to the design guru. But it's ok, I've been told when it comes time to decorate the garage I can have whatever I want!!!!

I agree with you the pillars are unfortunate. The replacement tiles will stand out no matter how close they come to matching so you're better off making sure they are clearly different so the gray one is better. Putting busy mosaic tiles could look nice but will interrupt the flow between rooms which I'm guessing is your problem with the columns in the first place. You will need to create a dextrous solution to tying into the 2x4 wall on the left side but I think it can be done tastefully- maybe beveling it back once you get past he end of that wall.

Unless buying custom manufactured wood cabinets, you are buying a series of boxes. A 100k euro kitchen installation of an Italian kitchen is one example from my portfolio. In our region, you can knock off 1200-2000 just be sticking with a full depth fridge--but it is design that will make it possible to install full depth and get a counter depth effect. Real estate agents have pegged this kitchen at anywhere from 45-75k. It cost under 30k. DYI projects offer the opportunity to take the time that you might not otherwise allow to a designer (hence our need to come equipped with knowledge, contacts and suppliers that augment our services). I recommend drawing from images (Houzz is great for that) to start, then researching suppliers, collecting specs, and developing a document that covers all aspects of the kitchen from lifestyle needs to style to comparisons of product reviews. Whittle it down to an instruction for purchase and installation. Consider challenges such as the dreadful corner cabinet turntable and splurge on solutions that make your design truly functional. You'll appreciate the expense that delivers practical functionality. There are remarkable solutions for the corner cabinet--but my fav is to determine whether that space can become storage (cabinet or drawers) in an adjoining room. When not practical, articulated pull-out stainless shelves are functional--and cool. Undermounted sinks are great for clean-line counters. Well placed recessed lighting (design again) eliminates the need for other fixtures--and allows you free rein to purchase for focal point impact or (my preference) to fit seamlesly into the overall look.
