Urgent Help! Stay or paint?
Comments (5)Looks like the dark window trim is trying to steal that beautiful ceiling's thunder. I have had both stained and painted trim. With stained trim I stayed with lighter colored, neutral/dusty wall colors as not to compete, lending a warm look. With light color, painted trim work, I could go more colorful and the trim really pops, Rooms look fresh and bright. Practically speaking: White trim required more frequent cleaning, but was much easier to repair and repaint the dings and scuffs. Polyurethaned wood trim required less maintenance but it was trickier, especially moisture and sun damage. Beautiful space, by the way!...See MoreLow ceiling
Comments (3)Cooler tones and ample lighting are two ways to make a space feel larger. Furniture pieces with slim legs and details that are lifted off of the floor a few more inches, give an airy, spacious look. You might also consider incorporating reflective surfaces such as a mirror to catch light, or a polished lighting fixture to draw the eye upward. Hope this helps--good luck!...See MoreNarrow room, high ceiling ...
Comments (0)I'm about to take the plunge and re-paint the lounge. It is long, narrow, with high curved ceiling. In plan shape it's like a slice of cake :-). I hope the pic shows it well enough. I'm standing at the other end of the room, which is basically 5m of stacker doors to the deck/archgola. The colour is Dulux Brick Red. I've been agonising over colour - I'm after a coastal vibe. I'd like to maybe wallpaper the short wall with the Island Lady triptych on it, to give some interest and contrast. I'm thinking Resene Robin's Egg Blue, with the end walls Resene Inside Back. I've been playing with a free design programme and I've run out of brain space! Would love to hear any comments, advice from other Houzzers please!...See MoreCeiling tiles - asbestos
Comments (1)Hi there! I'm an Asbestos Assessor by trade and come across these a lot. In the UK these would be highly friable asbestos insulating boards, but here in NZ it's always pinex. No asbestos in these ceiling tiles :-)...See Moreme me
