Bathroom basins- your view on inset vs above mount ?

Hi,

I am thinking about a bathroom renovation and the basin for the vanity. It is a modern home and the bathroom showrooms have a number of different style basins. Just wondering if there are any strong views on usability and functionality of different basins?

Vessels sit on top and take up more counter space. They don’t take much space in cupboard but the benchtop is lower hence loose the storage anyway and across the whole bench width. Can be harder to clean behind. Not for smaller vanities, otherwise it’s a personal preference .

My preference is inset basin. They allow for full bench height, without taking away storage space in vanity. https://www.caroma.com.au/bathroom/basins/classic/tribute-scpt-inset-basin-1-taphole-430mm

Vessel basins have a lot more styles and sizes to choose from which can help with providing more/less bench space depending on your preference. They also wont take up as much space in the vanity. You may need to do a little more cleaning than if you went a standard integrated style.

From the perspective of a short person, if they are too high it can be difficult to rinse your mouth at the tap
