Laying flooring in step up living room

I have an 800 sq ft beach house. The front door entryway leads straight into the “step up” living room that goes straight through to back door with all other rooms branching off from there The entryway runs 12’ w and 7’ d with the short side leading into the living room. We‘re laying new wood flooring throughout vertically from front door to back door seamlessly through LR and all rooms that branch off of it. My floor installer is suggesting that we lay the entryway only horizontally instead of vertically due to the step down break to add interest. Would it be best to go in same direction or horizontal?
