Thank you. Do you think Wallaby looks brown? And why Wallaby over Basalt?

the brown tone looks warmer than the blue tones of the basalt but always in the eye of the beholder...i think i would prefer a darker version of the door or wall colours but they look like three different colours in the photo

What colour is the bottom left of the house facade? I’d colour match to that.

It is monument. The canopy was monument before we repaired it. In hindsight, it was very dark

Personally , I think the palette is too 'busy' -- you have brown and charcoal and grey and cream and offwhite .

The brick you can't change , the charcoal suits IMO ( there is maybe too much charcoal downstairs to the left , but that may be the neighbours garage ? ) , the windows you can't change . So I'd change or paint the door and the upper left panel , probably going charcoal . I myself would do the entrance door a bright red , orange , yellow or similar , but most people probably wouldn't .

And then that 'canopy' I'd probably go a silvery tone with a blue tinge --- a surfmist or similar .

The colours we have used are monument and surfmist with accent features of red tones in the upstairs aluminium cladding and the liquid iron/rust front door. The windows are anodised aluminium. The downstairs bricks are similar to surfmist. Pls ignore the side bricks (a long story) and temporary side gate (it’s now monument).

How would making the upstairs cladding charcoal (when there is already too much charcoal/monument downstairs) and introducing a new (bright) colour for the front door make it less busy?

I see what you mean overall and that’s exactly my dilemma. I feel the basalt ties into the charcoal tones, anodised windows, and base liquid iron of the front door. I was also thinking of extending the basalt to the render around the monument garage door to break up the darkness on the left hand side of the house and painting the underside of the upstairs left cladding section (it is a protruding box) in the same colour as the little roof/canopy that surrounds it (which is surfmist).

How would that look?

Our council (useless) was ADAMANT about ‘visual articulation’ and wanted the house front and sides to have different perspectives.

I agree with you on the darker wall downstairs -- look at the 'fuller' picture you posted ( what I'd call #4 ) , and imagine around the garage done in the lighter 'surfmist' similar to the bricks , and I then think the charcoal canopy and upright wouldn't look too dark .

Personally , I wouldn't call that upper panel any shade of red , nor the door . On a scale of red to brown , they are both on the brown side IMO . I don't do things by half , so I would do the door and that upstairs panel in Red . Blood is red , tomato sauce is red , barbeque sauce is brown . And do that canopy in charcoal . Black , white and red .

OR here's an out of the square thought -- leave the garage wall charcoal , do the upstairs panel in surfmist ( so you have 'black' and 'white' panels alternating on each floor ) , AND do the downstairs canopy and upright in a mid orange -- darker than apricot , not as scorching as bright orange -- sort of a mandarin skin colour ! Entrance door to match or maybe double down with the brightest orange gloss you can , and the garage door in apricot !

I just feel it looked too dark. We had to repair the front canopy so thought it was a good opportunity to make a change.

What do people think of this option? Surfmist canopy to match the Surfmist upstairs? Rough mock up/edit on iPhone

Or the Basalt? Colour not quite right but you get the drift..

I like the original colours personally. Definitely wouldn't add yet another colour unless you specially want it to look like a patchwork quilt ;)

The surfmist is not another colour. It’s already used in the house (Upstairs).

I like Monument. With some greenery added to the garden. If you think that’s too dark, use Surfmist. Don’t add another colour. There will be too much going on and the new colour won’t relate to a anything.

Sufmist for sure, looks gorgeous even though that is the board.

Thanks Julie. That’s not the right colour in the pic (it’s too cream) but gives a good indication of the lightness with a lighter colour. Surfmist is the same colour as the horizontal beams on the top floor
