master off dining HELP!

Ok so who has any ideas on how to hide the entry to the master I know it’s not ideal but it is what it is🤷‍♀️ only answer I have come up with is move the entry to the WIR (straitened the wall) and use the space behind the kitchen cupboards as a tiny little hall and put the door at the end of that any other ideas thanks!

To a fair degree , its not too bad , coming off the dining , but conversely I understand why its not ideal .

As the plan seems to say 'final' , I assume it is locked in and you definitely don't want to move any external walls .

The only other option I can see would be to move the door to Bed 2 to the 'right' on your plan ( to the inner end of the Bed 2 WR ) , and have the door to the Master entering from this longer hallway into what is now the WIR . If you went down that route , you could either rearrange the ensuite and WIR and have a hallway , but the other option would be maybe 4 or even 6 doors and a non-walk-in robe along the wall that currently has door . Thinking , you could even walk through the WIR I guess , but that would be at the bottom of my preferences .

yes that would be a great solution only hubby wants a totally different entry from the kids room so have to figure out best way to enter off dining room we can still move walls around the plan hasn’t been signed off yet

I think the first layout is fine. You might want to consider moving the door for the storage room of the master bedroom so that it opens into the hall. That way the kids can use it for overflow storage. Also, that hallway is big enough that I think it could hold a large armour, providing more closet space. (There's no need to sleep in the same room as your clothes, so long as they're not too far off.) Also, don't forget that while the drawing shows kids in double beds, this need not be the case, so there will be more room for furniture (dressers or whatever) in their rooms. Finally, that step to bedroom 4 will not be odd at all. I've seen it in other homes. It looks clumsy in the drawing but it isn't. What you'll see when you come up the stairs is a bedroom door on a slight diagonal. It's only an odd jagged step if you walk like a robot, in straight lines along the wall, which is what your eye is doing on the drawing but you won't do in real life.

Bring the window down to meet the cupboard. Really lefty47 was right about not drawing attention to it. It is a source of light ,,, so no need to clutter it up. But if you took the colour out and painted the top of the cupbard to match the wall it ceases to draw attention to itself. Just because it is a horizontal space does not meant it needs something put on it. Note- With the cupboard being white, it also draws attention to itself … perhaps take that to the wall colour too and lift the pendant a smidge. So your pendant is the feature there. The cupboard … do yo need it? One way to remove what you are calling dead space is to get rid of the cupboard.

Hi Jennifer K, thanks for your comments. The photos you have posted are really lovely but not really suited to our environment and house, which I know is impossible to tell from one photo. We have built a modern farmhouse on 10 acres. That room looks out to beautiful green countryside and the river below. The dining room is a bit of a feature and is completely different to the rest of our relaxed lodgey style house but I don't want it to be too modern, if that makes sense. The photos have given me a few ideas so thank you so much for your help!

We have been renovating an 80's home with a vaulted roof in the living/kitchen/dining area, something like your picture. We needed to make the space look bigger so we opted to hang our tv from the roof using an Adtec tv bracket in white, pretty nifty unit, all wiring, aerials etc go up the mounting pole and through the roof. The unit also swivels 360 degrees which is great for any view point in the room, including our outside area. We had a tv unit custom built by Jarramar Furniture which is like a rather large floating cupboard. The unit has 2 draws and one cupboard. All the cords etc come down the wall in the adjoining room behind the door, neatly packed into duct and back into the back of the floating cupboard. It's very neat and tidy, keeps everything off the ground and makes your space look bigger. Both Adtec and Jarramar have websites where you can check out their stuff. You just need to ensure your tv weights are ok for the Adtec unit your wish to purchase. Good luck with your design.

How about a bookcase along the dining room wall ? Part of it opens to become the door into the master ? Or have I watched Maxwell Smart too many times haha .

You could pick an appropriate book to disguise as the door-handle .
