Change colour scheme

Hi there
Looking for some advise as I’m wanting to change the pine colour scheme in my house

Wondering if this is possible by repainting and not replacing all the
doors / frames, skirting boards and cabinets? And if so any ideas on a new colour I could do myself?

Also the kitchen has the light brown countertops so not sure how that would go with a new colour.

Have a look at Dulux Renovations range, they have their new product for cabinets, bench tops and even the floor, great product, have used it and it’s terrific, great range of colours, all you need to do is choose one that suits your house

Hi there we have recently renovated our house which also has quite a lot of wood tones. We found that going with a ‘whiter’ white really lifted and freshened the look. After lots of testing we went with duly Casper white quarter and we love it. A close second was snowy mountains half and lots of people on this site sing the praises of natural white. Regarding your bench tops , having them resurfaced or replaced with a white based stone would tie in really well. Good luck with your journey.

I reall like the current colors and your red roof. I think you can change the house colors and not change the fence color. Here is one example that is in a tan family: With a white trim and dark brown shutters, I think it would work. Here is another example of a tan shade: I also like this light grey with white trim: Would you consider a green base: Then chose either a brown or red for the shutter.

Hi, I know there are so many things to take into account and it's hard to get perspective from a photo. The white you can see is an extension with building paper, and the red is the existing building which is two story. The exterior is wide weatherboard planking, the windows are silver aluminium with very little trim. The doors in the front of the picture are French doors from bedrooms that will open to an enclosed courtyard ( yet to be built of course) The roof will be a light grey/brown but you won't see it much because of the flat roof style. There will be decking and ballustrades covering half of the new extension.

My daughter painted all walls in her two bedroom house one color. It makes a small house look so much bigger. Take a look at the BM OC colors. There are so many wonderful off whites. One of my favorites is Collingwood.

For a pass through window to be very useful, it needs a surface to place items that are being passed through, that can be easily reached from both sides, or you would need to coordinate people inside and out to pass things, which isn't feasible. I would consider whether it will be used as a pass through, given the door is immediately beside it. A small breakfast bar that uses the window for a view can also be useful for a pass-through set-down surface. Make sure the window is large enough to give a line of sight from person to person so that it is easy to communicate between the spaces - along the lines of 'Could you grab another beer?' or, 'I forgot the sauce.' I would also make the pass-through window a little wider if you do have a seating area, so it looks big enough to be welcoming, or it will be less likely to be used. At 2.500 deep, the deck is not large enough for a comfortable outdoor dining area of more than a couple of people. You need 600mm for comfortable seating on each side of a table, plus the table width which will be 900-1200, and with this layout, you also need another 900 mm to allow access past this, to the pass through, the seating and to the steps down, and with the deck being above ground level, space for access beyond the seating on both sides of the table is a good idea. If there is a barrier, you can get away without it because chairs won't fall off the edge, but it does make things tight. That adds up to at least 3000-3500 and preferably more. You can make things work with a tighter space, with a compromise to fixed seating along the edge, and a narrow table.

The wood is looking dated , but I wonder if that is because of the 'surroundings' -- the benchtops , the tiles and the slight buttery tone to the walls ?

By the way , some of the doors are mahogony veneer , but even ignoring that , imagine your place with charcoal floor tiles or even carpetted hallways , white or charcoal benchtops , a whiter tone to the wall paint ( or even some wallpapered walls ) , a red or orange or green splashback or subway tiles in your choice of colour ( or white or black even ) in the kitchen , and possibly just maybe remove the 1970's 'outback' print haha -- you'll have a totally different look .

Some of the cabinets are varnished , but some of the doors look to been several different tones , and possibly unvarnished -- redoing the doors in a cedar or jarrah stain , even Japanese black if you want to be trendy . and they will make the look more uniform , and modernise your place ( in conjunction with the lighter walls ) .
