I'm not sure if it's just my screen, but those colours Michelle suggested throw a purple colour - especially next to the green. I'd go for something lighter.

Thanks Robyn, they have a bit of a purple undertone. An artist friend had suggested before that a hint of jacaranda could compliment the french green. I love the french green, but just want to make sure that the colour for the cabinets doesn't detract from it or make it seem like a dirty green...

Maybe search "kitchens with green walls in photos" on this site - gives a few ideas. It's a matter of personal preference but the natural and more warm colours look better with that green.

You say you don't want cream or white which is what I would go for - I would def go with a warm white in a cottage kitchen with green walls....but it's your kitchen so it's you who must love it :)

I know you mentioned wanting a light colour but what about French Navy for the Island and match the wall cabinets to the French Green walls

I feel that Spanish Olive is too similar in tone to your walls, I would go lighter. I don't have the Porters French green sample to compare right now so do check brush out samples, try Dulux Serena Quarter and work with those green undertones rather than bring in violet. Otherwise I agree with Siruskey in selecting the same colour as your walls and a white tiled splashback, just working with the colours you already have.

Thanks so much for your advice Lauren and you are correct - the Spanish Olive is just too similar and wouldn't work and instead settled on Dulux Whisper White. It is a soft white that has a very slight undertone of green so we have decided to go with that. It is safe, but will also allow the jarrah benchtops to be the star of the kitchen. We're now debating a splashback of pressed tin/ encaustic tiles or perhaps a mirror to let the garden in. Decisions, decisions, decisions!!

Granted I do just have the colour swatch not a brush out or test pot, but to me Whisper White is looking very cream and I'm not seeing any green undertone Are you sure this is what you are looking for? Perhaps try Lyttelton Quarter.. or even better, choose your tile first and select the paint to work with the tile :)

Thanks Lauren. I'm not good at seeing undertones, but the lady in the hardware store thought it had and both of us thought it was the best out of the dulux range that we tried. I do like the dulux serena quarter and the lyttelton qtr so I might try and get back there tomorrow, just to be on the safe side. We hope to lock in the kitchen plan in the next day or so.

Your advice re the mirror being too modern makes a lot of sense and we're leaning towards the tiles rather than pressed tin, due to the durabilty of the tiles. I do really like the austinmer grey, but I thought it needed to be an existing colour rather than introducing another? I thought this might work: https://revertiles.com.au/tiles/dalmatia/ (have only seen online so far). The dalmatia is a 4 tile pattern, so could be a problem with the height of the splashback.
