What to do while I have unpainted walls and no flooring
I purchased a house recently and am trying to work out what quick renovations I might do before I commit to painting and placing hybrid flooring throughout (I have currently removed all previous flooring apart from bathroom and laundry tiles - carpet was throughout).
My issue is which room should have the TV and if it is to be in the front main room, how do I best fit it so i'm not walking into a couch as I enter.
Would you fill in the entryway to the living room and then knock down the wall immediately in front of you as you enter? If I did this, I could put a couch up along the new wall however the knocked down wall will now give slight view into the kitchen/fridge etc.
What would you suggest before I commit to painting and flooring?

Comments (10)I have just taken a couple more pictures (excuse the untidy house) from the stairs. As you can see it's an open plan area that isn't that big but very high ceilings also in wood (Macrocarpa) with dark wooden beams. The house is surrounded by bush so quite a dark house. I initially considered a darker wood similar to the beams but not sure if that will make the house appear smaller / darker...I'm really not sure what to do!?!?!? Comments (2)Carpet has come under fire because of the allergy/asthma reactions. Carpet can hold dozens of pounds of human skin/dust/mites in it. It can never be fully cleaned nor can the dust be completely removed. Because of this, many people are looking for solid flooring options which reduce allergens, reduce asthmatic events, are easier to clean and last longer. Cork flooring is seeing a huge increase in sales because it "takes over" for carpet. Soft, quiet, warm, easy to clean, hypo-allergenic, antimicrobial, instect resistant. It is the "go-between" type of flooring for people used to carpet who need to move to solid surfaces for their health. Comments (8)Get the professional sander guys in to repair the living areas and kitchen but don't go too dark with the stain as it will kill the lovely grain in the matai. I'm thinking a couple of tones richer than the timber knots showing in your photo, definitely no yellow tone at all. In NZ stepping on to carpet especially in a kiwi winter is so much nicer than a cold floor board shock!!! A nice area rug for the lounge and you're done....See MoreJosh

2 years agoMoving the entry way will improve the furniture placement area available. Put storage along the wall as going into the kitchen, and a sliding door on the kitchen opening.

2 years agoOr you could leave entry as is, and set out the lounges in a set up as per the attached photo. Your television could go where the fireplace is in this lounge room. Notice the console table adds interest to the back of the lounge.
