If you are in a super warm humid climate then no carpet works with a rug instead - something soft under your toes in the morning is always nice. Otherwise I would go with carpet. I know all the media has beautiful images of wood floors in bedrooms but there is something weird about mopping your bedroom imo. Wool carpet will feel cool in summer & warm in winter & help with acoustics. We live in Perth and the carpet has worked well in our climate. 16 years old and still in great condition.
Carpet is warmer, softer for kids playing or falling on floor and helps reduce noise. But it has its downsides to like cleaning and collecting dust. Big rugs help
I’ve lived in Cairns with tiles which perfectly suits the environment there. I currently live at the bottom of Victoria and have floorboards throughout inc the bedrooms. I love the floorboards and the way they feel underfoot.
