Consumer protection for defective product supplied from Italy

Hi! Long shot but I was hoping someone may be able to help!

I live in Australia and bought wallpaper from Italy. I purchased it directly from the manufacturer

The wallpaper supplied to me was faulty and unfortunately was installed before we detected the issue. The manufacturer has sent through the replacement wallpaper but has refused to pay for its re-installation. I would like to make the manufacturer pay as it was their fault

Does anyone know what consumer protection bidy I can contact to take action against the manufacturer by any chance.........? I cannot bring action against them in Australia (as they are overseas) and I cannot use EU Online Dispute Resolution tool as I do not live in EU :(

Does anyone know by any chance what consumer protection body to contact or been through something similar?

Many thanks!!!!!!!!!

i hate to say it but i think receiving replacement wallpaper is probably the best that you can hope for as most products i've bought have warnings to make sure that the correct item is received before they're installed ... we've been caught making the same mistake with a product purchased from an Australian based company as labour is not usually part of the product that is guaranteed by the manufacturer and we were advised that the cost of attempting to sue for compensation from the tradespeople who made the mistake installing the wrong product was more than the cost of the extra labour...

Thank you Louise..... I am just kicking myself by dealing directly with the overseas manufacturer. Its all fine unless things go wrong - and with the language barrier its pretty difficult to get any resolution

In my experience product warranties don’t often extend to labour unless the company did the install. If your installer purchased the product their markup covers part of their risk when things like this go wrong. When you buy the product yourself you bear the install risk if the product is defective.
Be glad they were able to provide a replacement.
