We are wanting to do a major interior renovation in a year or two, but in the meantime wanting to update wall paint colours. I want white with some room features highlighting colour but my hubby hates white wall. Thanks
I like the black around the fire/heater. I’m not a fan of highlight walls. I would always go for a white or neutral colour. In most modern houses with lower ceilings a neutral background allows the people to be the colour along with art, furnishings and rugs. What is your husband’s preference?
Agree with big reader, I love neutral, but you could think outside the square and consider painting the green walls black, leaving the others neutral, you could even try decorative moulding on one wall, or go neutral with the black, could look fabulous
Thank you for the replies. I’m really not good at interior design (also very busy working/studying). The whole room needs a makeover. Might need to enlist the help of someone who knows more! I do like the photos, they have helped me think outside the square.
The black around your fireplace looks good, I would leave it. The green colour isnt so bad it is just kind of flat and you have no large art pieces on the walls. You could paint or just rearrange what you do have until you renovate.
Kmart has the poster frames which are a good size, just rematt existing art or paint your own art to fit that size frame and hang so you get a huge chunk of the white you want without sacrificing the colour he wants or vice versa, get a large piece of mdf and use fabric and make it into art/colour and paint the walls white.
You could also do panelling down the bottom in white and keep colour up the top.
