Yalemichmom, Yes it is a vintage chair, purchased about 10 years ago. It is an Arthur Umanoff Slat Wood Bar stool, no longer in production but lots of them are available online, Etsy, Ebay, Etc.

Thanks so much for the information—all I had to go on was “Mom’s chair from Japan.” (At least that was what I thought. Maybe it was not one of her items from there, after all?) I’ll look for one.
