Ummm -- how I can politely put it ? Watch re-runs of Hogans Heroes , and copy the colour scheme off Stalag 13 ? Go for blue and grey , and maybe pick up some work as a private prison ?

The 'inspo' pic is boring , BUT it has features . Those are things like a chimney , a feature wall , stonework , double poles , several roof profiles , a fake roof vent . About the only feature on yours is the terrace on the end , and that is overshadowed ( haha ) with the straight cut roof end and those little triangles on the roof , the right end one looks even more bizarre when you realise that is basically flush with the actual end of the house , doubled down with the fact they are different distances from the door porch roof/portico .

Has building started ? I'd try and get double front doors , an angled roof end , and windows that weren't all the same height , and hopefully fit in a stone feature wall somewhere too .

Only then would I ask about colours , because as it is , I don't think colours matter .

Mandy and Kirstyn, Pottsy detests grey/beige and prefers bright colours. 

The rest of us are quite happy with neutrals and I do like your inspiration picture. Have you looked at Kate Walkers website/instagram (KWD) as she gives a run through of various design styles including modern farmhouse

Luckily I didn't say what I really thought then haha . Lets start at the start -- has the house been built ? I guess I could say 'its not to my taste , choose whatever colours you like' , but I was trying to offer some reasons why I'd say that . While C P is right -- I don't like bland or basic or neutral colours , but I also like a place to have something as a feature -- the ( assumed ) front doesn't inspire me . So can it be changed / have a feature added before the paint goes on ?

Kirstyn, the inspiration picture is wonderful. But I’m sorry that facade is nothing like yours. Where is the stone cladding gabled roof and substantial entrance statement. The colours are good, but this is not the correct inspiration photo to be looking at. Maybe these may help you.

What are your limitations on colour selections? Are you limited to Colorbond colours for the windows? What material is the garage door going to be? Is the house on acres with shedding?

My fave modern farmhouses at the moment have a dark green facade with black trims

In your inspiration photo the dark roof grounds the house and stops it looking beige blah.
You want a light roof not surf mist so that is basically leaving a version of beige or straight steel. Adding some rich timber like a deck and post could lift all the beige tones
