The room has very little color and no pattern--you need to think about that first. Then mount the tv higher and in the corner use a floor lamp if you need the light or just some framed artwork--maybe 2 pieces of art one above the other. Also you might want floor length curtains.

Just some ideas to think about? Uber big arc light Round uber big leather ottoman Long floor to ceiling curtains with print or color 4 inch trim on either side of the panels hung between the windows. Art work set in the cubes similar but different, as in perhaps, musical instruments, African masks, Art Deco Lallique vases, anything that reflects You translated into art. Back cubes with mirrors and put puck light in the top of each for nighttime drama and to light the art work. A large Fiddle Fig tree as the trendy green this year. Possibly smoked mirror above the TV screen as big as the cut out. Bring it on.

OK - I'm a beginner here on Houzz so my opinion isn't worth a lot but here it is: the room is a bit bland and lacking in character. I think you have to find some pieces you really love to bring it alive. All the suggestions are good for widening your horizons, but ultimately, you need to find things that matter to you, because it's your home and not a magazine photoshoot. That said, if it were me, I'd throw a couple of small, colorful rugs down, and put either one large painting or three smaller ones over the bed - not in a line but at different heights - to break up the binary look. I'd also put something on the wall above the heater. Then, play around with a few cushions and maybe a quilt that picks up some of the colours in your artwork.

As you probably know your current colour pallet is very restricted to the couch, curtain, arm chair, carpet and TV & TV cabinet. I would select a variety of colours from this pallet but use the tones that bring room into the living space e.g. I would find a huge, long pile rug that takes up the entire space between the couch and the TV, then add matching cushions to the couch and a throw for the arm chair. This colour of white (or cream - it is hard to tell in the picture) should really brighten up the room. The couch cushions and throw could also take on the black from the TV but my base colour would be the cream / white - what ever colour the curtains are. I would also add art work and a standing lamp. Maybe black and white art and a few nick nacks on the TV stand.
