Where r u located. It doesn’t look like you have either a concrete slab as you house base or a suspended timber floor with ventilation. Drainage and air space important to prevent water and mould

No to mention a termite barrier.

If this is to be a garage, I hope the engineering has been done correctly for your framing and joists. I would also be concerned that the edge of the garage, being wooden needs to be reinforced, as well as having the correct grade for the ramp to put a vehicle in the garage. I can see the edge timber breaking off as soon as a vehicle is driven into the garage.

If the builder has advised against a connection between external ramp and wooden garage, then maybe your only option is to have the gravel graded correctly to enter garage and build up the entire area around the garage. It will be a case of spending the money to get it done correctly. Short cuts may just cause more expensive issues in the future.

Consult your builder. I would assume, and hope, it is not the first timber garage they have built. They may give different scenarios for your property, taking into account correct drainage, grading and use this previous experience in solving your particular issues. Between your builder and driveway contractor they should be able to advise of the best way to complete the driveway leading into the garage.

Why does this all feel weird to me ? In that photo , it looks like essentially a packing case that someone is adapting to be a garage ? It actually looks to be just sitting there , like its been dropped off the back of a truck ? A decent wind or rain and it looks like it will move a couple of metres haha . If its built on site , or even transported there , the roof normally goes on before the cladding , and I'm trying to recall the last time I saw a newbuild with a timber floor -- I now some 1940's houses had seperate garages and did this , but since the days of concrete , that doesn't seem to have happened . But again , surely logic would say you put the roof on before you lay a timber floor ?

The way its sitting there , it looks like higher ground maybe 50-60cm in front of the entrance -- at the very least I'd want a grating and drain in there to collect and deflect any rain and waste runoff , but with that framing under the floor , its likely some rain will get down into the gap anyway .

So maybe I'm missing something , but there's a reason why 99.9% of garages are done on concrete floors , not wood .

I'm not concerned about the structural stability of the garage, the builder has done many of these, being a pole home builder and specialising in building on sloping blocks like ours. Here's another photo of the garage under construction, and now mostly completed, to give you a better idea.

With the proposed gravel driveway, being that it is permeable, do you reckon we still want grating in front of the garage? The driveway slope will be on average 1 in 6 fall, with a transition zone in front of the garage.

How does the builder suggest you keep water from flowing into the subfloor?
