Hob Waterproofing Query

We are currently in the process of removing a high hob that is in our lounge room. We are replacing the sliding doors for more modern ones and lowering thr hob at the same time.

We have been told that we need to waterpoof the hob, especially since the level of the tiles outside on thr balcony are higher than the internal floor level.

We are pushed for time and wondered if its part of code to waterproof this in Qld. We have mortar to dry etc and we the doors are arriving on Wednesday.

You don’t want water getting in our under floor. Look at the national construction code

You have said in your opening post, “you have been told to waterproof hob”. So wouldn’t that be your answer, especially if the balcony is higher than lounge room now. Before the high hob would of protected lounge room from water entering. You have changed that, so would now need waterproofing.

There are no short cuts, you need to water proof any new work
