Bathroom missing tiles

Hi. I'm a newbie on this forum so if I have posted in wrong location, or if there is a better forum please advise. I am currently living in my own rental property while I transition to a new unit being built. This gives me an opportunity to fix some of the maintenance problems. At the entrance to the bathroom, there are small and thin tiles missing and I am looking for a cheap and easy remedy. There is a timber tread and the wife suggested to fabricate a piece of timber but that's a lot of cutting and fiddly. I was thinking more like some simple type of coloured and sanded cement grout to fill. Any ideas?
