Maintaining the shaker panel doors throughout is indeed a great way to keep a consistent style throughout your home. As for the various finishes and colours, it seems like you are already trying to tie in the elements from room to room, which helps to create a cohesive look.

Using greens in your kitchen and laundry can definitely tie these spaces together. Also, having white shaker cabinets and benchtops in both your kitchen and laundry will provide continuity. The grey walls in the main bedroom and the rest of the house will pair nicely with the green elements and keep the space feeling fresh and modern.

As for the hardware finishes, mixing metals is a common trend in design today and can add visual interest and depth to a space. So having brushed nickel in the kitchen, bronze in the main bedroom, and potentially gold in the laundry and second bedroom is not an issue. The key is to ensure that the tones complement each other.

Thanks @bigreader - I have previously done mood boards for individual rooms but it may be worth doing a whole house one to see how it all comes together.

@Kate I'm not sure if I want to "repeat" the mint green specifically as the shade would depend on the colours that are available from the cabinet manufacturer. I like both more muted greens as well as darker emarald but I'm unsure which way I go. There is currently a door at the back wall of the kitchen which opens to the laundry however I'd like to close this off and move the door to the hallway which seems much more logical.

Can you post some pics of kitchen and the colour opts you prefer. Closing off door could help separate a disjoint in tone. A floor plan will help us to understand context

I would tie the laundry cabinets to the kitchen splash back in pale green and wouldn't have too many different door hardware materials and styles

The floor plan is above. As I mentioned in my previous post, we're looking to close the door to the laundry through the kitchen and move the door to the hallway. The space where the laundry door is at present, I'd like to put a new wider pantry cupboard as our current pantry is really narrow. I'll post a kitchen photo shortly.

Are you doing the vacuum range?

Yes it will be vinyl wrap. We partially renovated our kitchen a few years ago and replaced the cabinet doors and drawer fronts with vinyl wrap ones (Tesrol calls it “vacuum formed”).

Both lovely colours especially bay leaf, moving the laundry door will give better space to the kitchen, I would still like to see them work together being so close.

Either shade is lovely, wait until you have the other quotes before deciding, Because the kitchen and laundry are side by side and just off the entrance I would keep them similar, you can go different in the bathroom and Powder room, grey walls in the bedroom?

Thanks for your comments. This colour below is actually the closest to the splashback tile but I feel like it’s too similar if that makes sense? I’d rather have complementary colours rather than too matchy

I wouldn’t call that close to mint green. Which is why pics of the real things are important. Screen colours vary

It’s funny because when I take a photo it looks more blue than it does in person. This is an older pic - in process of refinishing floor, painting and replacing blind at present.

Your kitchen looks lovely, I wouldn't worry about the Blue green colours differing as they will work together anyway, You mentioned removing the lovely glass doors into the laundry, what are you going to do in that space

I’d like to put in a big pantry cupboard as the current pantry is quite narrow. It seems like the best use of space - just a bit unsure as the door would hit the lower cabinets when open. Do you think that’s ok?

Not sure which lower cabinets you mean?, if you made the pantry 400 deep and not the normal 600 would that fix the problem

I mean the upper cabinets to the left of the laundry door. The upper cabinets are 300mm deep and the lower cabinets are 600mm deep. I was thinking to make the pantry 300mm deep to line up with the upper cabinets

Any views on the new pantry location? Is it an issue if the cupboard doors hit the lower cabinets when opened?

The new pantry (where laundry doors are now - on back wall of photo) would be just under 1000mm wide. The upper cabinets in the kitchen are 300mm deep and the lower cabinets are 600mm deep. I’d make the pantry 300mm deep to line up with the upper cabinets. However this means when the pantry doors open, the left pantry door would hit the lower kitchen cabinets. Does that make sense?

Celadon is a lovely Asian ceramic colour

We crossed over Di, what is the distance between the current doors and the opening to the opposite cabinets plus distance to from cabinets to end of the laundry wall

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean. The width of the doors to the laundry including the door frame is 920mm

Regarding the pantry door hitting the lower cabinets. It won’t hit the cabinets, the door would stop at a right angle against the lower cabinets. Not a problem.

You could have a 600mm deep pantry cabinet with doors. Have internal drawers for storage. Then the space you have is utilised to its potential.

Thanks, good idea. I’ve just had another look but it feels too bulky. 300mm isn’t very deep but it feels like a better fit for the space. I’ll ask the cabinetmaker for their opinion as well

Sorry the dimensions from wall to wall and size of doorway opening plus trim. And if you use normal hinges you shouldn't have any problem with the doors. Will the new cabinet match other cabinets. Any chance you could you the glass doors on the cabinet.

The glass doors aren’t full height. It would be more trouble than it’s worth to use doors for pantry, in my opinion. New hinges etc.

The glass doors don't have a plinth below them as they are, that would bring them up off the floor to fit the new cabinet, which I think could look lovely, I know that I saw a picture of them somewhere but can't find it, you could add frosted glass or just a film., I'am guessing that they are approx 400 - 450 wide per door which would be perfect in that position so as not to block the sliding door completely

My preference would be to match the pantry doors with the rest of the kitchen cupboards. The cabinetmaker that provided the quote advised that we'd need to get rid of the sliding door to the kitchen so we could have a sliding cavity door to the laundry. Where the kitchen door is now will have the door and door frame removed and be squared off to the ceiling

So that would mean looking straight at the kitchen sink from the front door?

Depending on dimension I would prefer to keep the kitchen slider and add a hinged door into the laundry. I really think that the glass doors could be a feature, I have friend that has a set of French etched glass doors on her pantry and looks amazing, but it's you house and you must have what suits you.

The width of the opening wouldn't change - it would just go all the way to the ceiling. I almost always keep that door open anyway. Do you think there's an issue with this? I guess I could also keep the opening and door frame as is but just remove the door.

The dimensions that I wanted are marked on a previous post. personally I would keep the sliding door into the kitchen for when you want to close off any mess from visitors. plus for heating in Canberra, so the width of that wall is what?. I would then have a hinged laundry door space permitting

I can't find an exact example but this might help you.

@Di Njsd, Yes an open pantry without any door would work well. It just depends on how particular you are about keeping it organised and tidy. This is an example of an open pantry. It will definitely work in your space. Speak to your cabinet maker.

Once again it's personnel choice but I wouldn't have a pantry with open shelves in that position, if it was to hold and display china that could possibly work but you would have to monitor it as it will get messy.

Di njsd, is the cabinet maker suggesting that there isn't enough room for both the Cavity kitchen door and a hinged laundry door, I know that the laundry is only 1500 wide but without knowing the depth of the cavity wall and door width in the kitchen it's hard to know

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'd definitely want pantry doors as it's not really anything I'd want to put on display. I agree that it would work well if I were storing decorative items.

I didn't ask the cabinetmaker about having a hinged door in the laundry as it's quite narrow. I thought the cavity sliding door would make the best use of the space and as I said, I don't really use the kitchen door anyway so it wasn't a big issue for me. I will include the missing dimensions

The kitchen door opening is 780mm wide. The distance from the end of the upper cabinets to the right wall is 910mm
