Scullery and kitchen Renovations ideas

We are into the initial renovation process. My query is is it possible to add scullery to the existing kitchen, also if it can be done without spending a huge amount of money. Am also looking for Reno ideas for our kitchen. We like modern, neutral, and minimalist interiors.

The kitchen looks in good condition. A pity to rip the whole thing out. Can you reuse carcasses, paint doors? Most importantly what are the measurements of the space. From stove wall to other side of island and end to end. Current length of island. Space measurements between island and current cupboards?

Hi there, here's my problem with your existing plan--there's no counter space between the sink and the refrigerator. Where will you prep your meals and where will you place your groceries when putting them away in the fridge? I have three ideas. 1.You could relocate the sink and DW to the peninsula. 2. Forget about the pantry, move the fridge over and gain that counter space. 3. Turn the pantry on it's side and make it 13" deep--it will still be useful. I am attaching a photo of a 13" hutch, but it could easily be a pantry with solid doors. I like that James Buckley suggested that you center the range on the wall--it makes it a focal point and you're not squished in the corner. Good luck and post photos when you're done.

Hi All, I am new to this forum & this is my first home in a month. I am planning to renovate the kitchen after moved in. Please let me know your ideas & expertise how much it cost & what kind of design suits this. (i am on a strict budget), possible DYI(except plumbing & electrical) & if any modification in structure(like if we removing the patio & removing that small piece of wall dividing kitchen) do we need council approvals? please share your thoughts. I would use the WIL for a Pantry. And steal some space off the theatre for a wall of storage opening into the hall.

Hello Asha, It is a grand looking kitchen that would be a shame to spoil. Also the summitry is so good too: too good to spoil. But having said that the WIL would be ideal and you could add cupboards along another wall for linen store.. The plans do not actually show the kitchen layout or dims but it is clear to see what what would work there for you. Cheers Margot

Excellent suggestion to use WIL. Look through the 1000,s of kitchen photos available for something that suits your chosen style. If the walls are timber studs, it will be an easy job to open WIL to kitchen and close hallway door. The ceiling will need new plaster work.

If you are in Perth, WA, the walls are probably brick and a concrete slab. This would make knocking through to the WIL more difficult but still possible. If you keep the footprint of kitchen exactly the same and keep kitchen cabinet carcasses, this will save you money for wall and ceiling changes.

The current kitchen is an awkward plan so I suggest the following using the current cabinets in the WIP along the back wall and adding a new kitchen in front of the WIP unable to read dimensions

The new wall of cabinets between the WIP and kitchen would only be cabinet height and not go to the ceiling which will allow light and air into the WIP

You have said you want to add a scullery. Since a scullery has a sink and bench and storage area, the WIL area will also have access to plumbing in the adjacent toilet. Again a more difficult installation due to brick walls and concrete floors. If you are just wanting a hidden work area with no sink, then siriuskey idea is perfect for a small budget driven renovation.

The plumbing is just on the other side of the wall so not difficult to run plumbing into the scullery WIP
