Looking for design ideas to beautify the master bedroom

Hello All Wonderful People :)

Bedroom is 4.6mx4.7m in size and gets natural light throughout the day from window facing to north. We will be adding a King size bed and have already wall mounted the TV at preferred location on the wall. We are looking for some ideas to beautify the master bedroom space especially, after placing the king bed, what else should we add and where? Appreciate your ideas :)

Hi, something of a ‘piece of string’ question as it depends on so many variables. Firstly, is your bed something of a feature; is your style minimalist, maximalist or something between; is there anything you really wish or need to include.

Yes a master bedroom is a personal thing. First you need the bed design as Jan Dobson has mentioned, then bedding in your chosen colours, bedside tables to match bed, or not…. Artwork, a floor rug at the end of bed, a comfy chair. But all these items can only be sourced by you, because we do not know what your taste is. For instance, the first thing I would do if moving into this room, is to remove the tv, but that is me.

I think the first layout is fine. You might want to consider moving the door for the storage room of the master bedroom so that it opens into the hall. That way the kids can use it for overflow storage. Also, that hallway is big enough that I think it could hold a large armour, providing more closet space. (There's no need to sleep in the same room as your clothes, so long as they're not too far off.) Also, don't forget that while the drawing shows kids in double beds, this need not be the case, so there will be more room for furniture (dressers or whatever) in their rooms. Finally, that step to bedroom 4 will not be odd at all. I've seen it in other homes. It looks clumsy in the drawing but it isn't. What you'll see when you come up the stairs is a bedroom door on a slight diagonal. It's only an odd jagged step if you walk like a robot, in straight lines along the wall, which is what your eye is doing on the drawing but you won't do in real life.

How about a horizontal weave-style fence for privacy, plenty of seating for dining and relaxing, with separate sections for each function. Moving the trees is a good idea, to open up the entire space.

no problem, so are you saying that wall is closest, but stronger, do you think it might like a smokey teal? that is very in right now, or is it like the grayed out turquoise on the coverlet? Grey would be a wonderful accent with that. Have you thought of making your headboard? So amazingly simple? Give yourself like a nice padded gray? Could go for a silk or velvet? oh do you have dark hairy people? you know like black retrievers or something? that could be a problem. If you put covered buttons, there is actually a little tool (under $10 does it all for you. really glam it up. do these help? I think i would go with light gray or a variation of the wall color. let me know when you are ready for more. Couple ideas for bedside stands, first 2 less than $100, last one idea for alternative.

OK - I'm a beginner here on Houzz so my opinion isn't worth a lot but here it is: the room is a bit bland and lacking in character. I think you have to find some pieces you really love to bring it alive. All the suggestions are good for widening your horizons, but ultimately, you need to find things that matter to you, because it's your home and not a magazine photoshoot. That said, if it were me, I'd throw a couple of small, colorful rugs down, and put either one large painting or three smaller ones over the bed - not in a line but at different heights - to break up the binary look. I'd also put something on the wall above the heater. Then, play around with a few cushions and maybe a quilt that picks up some of the colours in your artwork.

You have a lovely base to work from. Use Houzz and Pintrest and start saving inspiration pics to create a mood board. Some form of mood board will help make your choices much easier and give you something to refer to when you have indecision. Eg if a coastal theme below.

It all depends on the look you are after, adding beautiful bedding, lamps, rug, choose a colour that you love and that has a flow through look with the rest of your house.
