As above, plus you can measure the cut out yourself from underneath. Then plumbing and sink suppliers have product measurements on their websites. It’s a matter of searching to find what can fit. Then you can get a plumbers opinion. Engineered stone can be cut but trades are banned from cutting it on site. Cuts are done in factories with the correct safety gear etc to avoid silica risk and the related lung disease.

Thanks all. Here are some photos. Other part of the dilemma is the dishwasher is under the drainer side and we aren’t in a position to be moving anything around.

When you said “really old” I thought you meant the sink from from the 1960’s. This sink is not old. Probably circa 2005 to whenever the kitchen was renovated. Which I don’t think is old 😂😂. As big reader has said. Measure from underneath the size of the current cutout in the Caesarstone. Also note, you need a tap hole in the sink because taps comes through sink, not the walls. Take the measurements to a plumbing shop and see if there is a “new” deeper sink with drainer that would fit into cut out space. They could also put you in touch with a plumber to disconnect existing plumbing and reinstall new sink and hook up plumbing. Do you think the tap is old as well. If so get a new one while you’re shopping.

The dishwasher does complicate things. You should be able to get a deeper down sink to fit within the current cutout but you’ll need to hunt. If you’re prepared to investigate having the cutout enlarged then you may have room for a small second bowl - the search term you’ll need is “single and a 1/4 (or quarter) sink”.

Its not a shallow sink. Deep sinks can be bad on back.

Oh and measure depth of sink

It will be relatively expensive / messy/ not worth it to modify the engineered stone for the sake of a slightly bigger bowl - best to work with existing cut-out which you should measure accurately from under and see if you can source a similar size sink with a deeper tub and get a plumber to install. Likely the cutout will be reasonably tight to the dimension of the existing sink. The other thing you could also consider is changing the tap for a gooseneck that is higher / better clearance so you can more easily fit larger pots under.

Thanks Paul. Going to have a go at measuring, though I find it is a bit difficult to get accurate that is my concern. Not sure exactly how ‘precise’ my measurements need to be.

There no give in engineered stone so while you fill in small gaps with silicon etc if the new sink is slightly too small but it’s difficult if the new sink is too large. So measurements do need to be accurate.

measure from underneath - you should be able to get a feel or visual on whether the cutout is tight to existing or there has been some clearance allowed - the fact that it is drop in from top there may be a bit more clearance than what it would be otherwise if it were undermount and needed to be accurate/shaped perfectly to the bowl

A different view. Unless the sink is really really bothering you live with it as is for a while {this is long standing advice from Houzzers on here}. You can wash big trays etc in the laundry. And I hate a single sink but in the occasions I had to use one, I’ve had a separate “dregs” container for use whilst I had the single bowl full. And home ownership is a game of compromises.
