Loungreoom needs love
we have a weird loungeroom that im finding really hard to get the right look for.
Its 2.5m wide and about 7mtr long. the TV and lounge cant change, but TV cabinet can. i dont like white furniture because we live on a farm so its incredibly dusty here... Im thinking maybe oak and travertine style but id love some more suggestions. The room is awkward, but for now we are stick with this shape.

Comments (7)Thanks :) Yeah decided to go with tile. So sand cement is ok over existing tiles if I prep them first? Only problem is, the new pad can only be about 30mm at it's thickest (leaving up to 15mm for tiles) otherwise it'll end up being higher than the hallway floor. So I either need to make the fall shallower or not bother with the waste and make it all level. If I made it level, could I use levelling compound at that thickness or would deck mud/sand cement be the best option? Also, should I be putting in mesh for strength? Comments (6)The market is full of tropical/botanical art at the moment which lend themselves well to tropical or beachy looks. The look you are after calls for natural textures with a soft colour palette, think linen bedding and layer it up with throws and cushions for texture and pops of colour. In my opinion drapes are not a good option in your room as the ceiling slopes to just above your window at a certain point. This would dictate the height at which your drapes hang and, in this instance would be too low. To soften the windows, I would have a tall palm or Fiddle Leaf Fig tree in wicker basket. Comments (8)I think the L shape works for the shape of the room. I am not going to consider the appliances etc, personally I do not like a sink in the middle of the Island Bench so I think you have made the right choice there. The only thing that sticks out to me immediately is that your Island looks too small I think you should extend that out to make the end flush with the length of your cabinets on the garage wall side. 10 days agoI would mount the tv on wall if you can and bring the lounge in off the window closer to tv a metre might be ok given size of tv. If you shift it a little to abut side wall.. add coffee table and rug. Shelf

Hi Kate...thx...that image looks pretty good and yep i can def move lounge forward ....
i found this cute little travertine coffee table which is only 700mm in diametre... i wasnt sure about bringing too much timber into the room as we have timber floors throughout
the tv unit in this pic also has a travertine top, although its not a matching set so the travertine pattern will be different so i dont really want to do that either.
its getting overwhelming... ive tried so many AI options ..lol..

10 days agoBring the lounge forward about 2 metres. Use the space under window for storage etc. for that size tv ideally you should be no more than 4000mm from television for viewing. You have an enormous tv, so watch it properly from the correct distance.
9 days agoBring lounge forward and put a sofa table behind it, you could add a pair of lamps for a beautiful look, love your inspiration photo, adding the rug and maybe a coffee table and fabric ottoman’s would balance the sofa and tv, but the travertine looks great also,add gorgeous cushions , throw and it will look fabulous.

It’s really a personal choice on colour, if you are looking at a beautiful neutral room, something in this style would work.
