Can you sketch a room floor plan noting doors and windows? That’s quite an awkward room. The couch is a long way from the TV. Is that a comfortable watching position? How many people do you need to seat? I wouldn’t buy anything new until you’ve god a good picture of functionality.

I would mount the tv on wall if you can and bring the lounge in off the window closer to tv a metre might be ok given size of tv. If you shift it a little to abut side wall.. add coffee table and rug. Shelf

i found this cute little travertine coffee table which is only 700mm in diametre... i wasnt sure about bringing too much timber into the room as we have timber floors throughout

the tv unit in this pic also has a travertine top, although its not a matching set so the travertine pattern will be different so i dont really want to do that either.

Bring the lounge forward about 2 metres. Use the space under window for storage etc. for that size tv ideally you should be no more than 4000mm from television for viewing. You have an enormous tv, so watch it properly from the correct distance.

Bring lounge forward and put a sofa table behind it, you could add a pair of lamps for a beautiful look, love your inspiration photo, adding the rug and maybe a coffee table and fabric ottoman’s would balance the sofa and tv, but the travertine looks great also,add gorgeous cushions , throw and it will look fabulous.

i do like that sofa table idea...i never would of thought of that one....

so that rules out any work getting done again today as i now hunt online for a sofa table.

Can i ask... if i brought a sofa table in... and i stick with my little travertine coffee table... should i try and match a tv unit and sofa table?

Kerp in mind we already have the timber floor, but i will be getting the floor rug.

It’s really a personal choice on colour, if you are looking at a beautiful neutral room, something in this style would work.

Seeing as this is a temporary solution and it won't be visible, you wouldn't have to buy a sofa table. You could just build a shelf at the right height under the window or make one from a piece of timber and legs (buy at Bunnings/Ikea or get off Marketplace), or cut down a cheap Marketplace find. Then when you do your reno, you can get the furnitire you want/need.

Love the render. From a practical perspective if you don’t have a lot of storage elsewhere a wall of storage painted the wall colour with push to open handles would fit behind the sofa table.
