What goes with green!?

I have a dark forest-ish kind of green carpet, and cream coloured walls. What colour curtains should I get? And what colour furniture!? Please Help me!! (:

Do you like this carpet? If not, I would not spend money on furniture to match it.

If you do like it, maybe a color palette of camel, cream and a bit of brown and orange.

What type of carpet? is it wall-to-wall? That colour will provide you with a challenge for furniture & curtains.

I would embrace the element, but I would get rid of the wood chips. I'm thinking back fist sized river rocks. Then I would get a tallish flowering tropical such as hibiscus and add a few ivy plants to grow between the rocks. Additionally, a small water feature might be nice. For me, the bigger problem with the entryway is the door. You have an obviously contemporary home, yet you have a -very- traditional door. I would want a wood door with some sort of art glass element in it. The wood would of course need to be stained to match the existing woodwork. The door will be some big bucks, but it would remain regardless of flooring changes. These two doors are not specific recommendations, but examples of the type of entry door I have in mind. I have a dark green colored carpet in one of my guestrooms that I just remodeled. I have white bedspread/duvet , chocolate brown throw blanket, with green and brown accent pillows. Curtains are chocolate brown, and walls are a tan color with green undertones. It all came together great!

Wow, I'm glad you said it was green! My monitor is totally showing it as blue carpet :(

If you want modern,,you could introduce tangerine and teal shots. For a more muted look putty grey works with green grey accents. However I think the challenge is the manner In Which the green carpet just brings out the orange in your fireplace surround and door. Would you be prepared to paint or stain them?

Carpet appears blue to me too.

FIrst, I'd paint those wretched doors & FP mantel & tile to match the trim.
Replace the horribly dated light fixture.

Get a couch in a neutral solid color. Patterned throw pillows that include some of the carpet color.

long panel drapes in a stripe that includes couch color.

On screen the carpet looks a petrol sort of colour, so maybe it is a bluish green. I grew up with a living room carpet this colour and my parents had a mustard sofa with green and mustard curtains.min the picture I've attached the colour in the chevron rug is similar to your carpet on screen.

If renting, buy strictly neutral large items that will work in any house. Use colours in accents such as throw pillows, vase etc.

May I suggest you address this problem by buying a large rug and overlaying it over this one. If your accommodation is rented at least you can make it yours by some creative solutions such as these: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/query/rental

Before I knew what colour the carpet was going to be, (I'm young so I had to buy as much as I could before moving in) I bought a dark grey-brown lounge suite.. It's okay, not amazing though, will it still look okay?

Green is neutral - well it can be anyway. Calm the green down by using it over again in your paint, finishes. Layer it. OR, ensure that a portion of that green for sure is in your toss cushions, accessories - things that are easier to change. IF you don't want to replace the carpet to a more neutral colour - then make the green neutral. It can be done - couple of photos here to inspire, the colourful room with pink, orange and green. The green becomes the neutral in the room because everything else is so colourful. Don't fret - green can be gorgeous!

Here's the lounge suite, it won't have the ugly blanket abd cushions on it, that's just how the last tenant had them (: I'll have different ones and they won't be like that

Go to a carpet store and look thru their remnants that are neutral negotiate a good price for a large enough piece for a large area rug .They can hem it for you too. I have done this before and then you can decorate to your liking;)

You need light and bright. Being rented is tough. First change out the drapes with to the floor length. Cream with a horizontal stripe of brown to match or furniture. This will 1. get rid of the horrid things hanging there 2. pull the initial visual to that wall instead of the floor. Tall and high colors ( mango, aqua, yellow) decorations on your mantel with shorter cream and brown items. Then a large square table in the middle, painted distressed cream, with high color items setting on it. DIY project or Ikea. Green is the number one calming color, just don't let it put you to sleep. :)

I'm definetly having cream colored curtains with brown (to match furniture) stripes, but I was thinking vertical ones. I think I'm just going to have green, brown, beige and white as a color palette. (:

Hello, my husband had the great idea of painting the living room walls in a bright honey dew color. I was used to the browns and blues and it was easy for me to accent. Now I feel lost, so any ideas on what other colors will go well with such a bright green?. I have cocoa couches.

Leslie, I'm in the same predicament, moving from property with beige carpet to one with different shades of green!! my rug is black with grey and beige in it! I think I'm going to have to buy new as it won't go! my sofa is black n grey too.

I don't know what pillows to use, area rug to use or curtains to put up? Help!! Cushions are like an olive or artichoke green. Any input would help greatly! Thank you!!
