Just some ideas to think about? Uber big arc light Round uber big leather ottoman Long floor to ceiling curtains with print or color 4 inch trim on either side of the panels hung between the windows. Art work set in the cubes similar but different, as in perhaps, musical instruments, African masks, Art Deco Lallique vases, anything that reflects You translated into art. Back cubes with mirrors and put puck light in the top of each for nighttime drama and to light the art work. A large Fiddle Fig tree as the trendy green this year. Possibly smoked mirror above the TV screen as big as the cut out. Bring it on.

Thanks very much for all your feedback. Just to answer a few queries - the deck is directly outside the main room so the new doors open out onto it. The doors won't be French - they're just the only doors that the 3D planner I'm using had, they'll actually be large stacking doors. I've had another idea too which would be a lot more expensive but offers a completely different approach. This is quite rushed so doesn't show accurate layout of kitchen or anything like that, basically just provides an idea. Thoughts!?

Why don't you live in the house for a while and get a feel for things. The curtains are bright but if they are still good quality / newish it would be a very expensive exercise to replace them (I have just spent a few thousand just on three rooms), you can always add a few red cushions or a red toned throw over your existing couch or a rug with a red tones in to it, to tone the red down, if required. Repainting the walls is cheaper than replacing curtains and a piece of art with red tones may also help. As far as furniture is concerned it would depend on what you like style wise. Why not send us a photo after you have moved in. You may find some of your concerns disappear once you are in and settled.

I'll start with what I personally don't like , but obviously some people do -- The two couches look like they match ( which is good ) and in a green leather ( again good ) , but the browny olive carpet doesn't really work . Than you have a green fabric rolled arm chair , that is 100 years old in design and fabric design -- just because it is green , doesn't mean it works with the couches , because it doesn't . The chair that does tie in ( the green leather one ) is in a funny spot , but I also think it would look funny between the 2 couches . Then you have a nice armchair 'up the top' , and I think/hope that the fabric matches the dining chairs ? Then the TV area looks 'busy' . Probably the least of your worries , just an observation . SO -- I'd move the rolled arm chair right out of the room . The couch along the window I'd move around to beside the other one , and then the single green leather around by the window , so you have a green leather semi-circle . Personally , I still don't like the leather and the the carpet 'clash' , so I'd like to change the carpet ( or the lounge suite if you are wanting a change there -- although you'd have to go maybe that 'shooting lounge' aged brown leather if you want to keep the carpet ? ) . 'Up the top' by the bookcases I'd try and get a second chair the same as the other wheat/grey one , and add a coffee table -- so you have a conversation area , and a lower lounge/TV area . If it was me , I'd probably remove and wall in the 2 'left-hand' side windows -- the one that the blind is closed and I suspect is closed most of the time , and the one behind the TV . I'd then wall mount the TV ( if done professionally , you get the power and aerial all hidden ) so it cleans up that area , but that does start getting costier .
