Twelve Black is a contemporary family home designed for comfort, function and quiet drama. The design centres around a refined black palette, softened by natural light and grounded in durable, low-maintenance materials—ideal for a busy family lifestyle. Open-plan living spaces connect seamlessly to the outdoors, with a functional layout that balances communal areas and private retreat zones. Thoughtfully detailed joinery, built-in storage and a flexible kitchen and dining hub support modern day-to-day living. While bold in appearance, the home’s simplicity allows family life to take centre stage.

Appliances are carefully selected for both performance and aesthetic cohesion. Neff ovens, hob, and extraction sit quietly within the composition, paired with a Bosch dishwasher and Samsung refrigeration. Together, they support a kitchen that is as capable as it is composed.
The sink and tapware — ABI Interiors’ Seba sink and Robertson’s Elementi Uno mixer — are understated yet refined, contributing to the overall sense of balance and longevity. Cabinet handles from ABI Interiors (Evanda range) provide a subtle, tactile detail that reinforces the linear language of the design.

Overview
Extend off the rear of a Victorian terrace to yield an amazing family space.
The Brief
Phase II of this project for us, we were asked to extend into the side and off the rear as much as planning would allow, then create a light, sleek space for a design-driven client.
Our Solution
While wraparound extensions are ubiquitous (and the best way to enhance living space) they are never boring. Our client was driven to achieve a space people would talk about and so it’s has proved.
This scheme has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on Houzz; we think the neat lines and bold choices make it an excellent ideas platform for those looking to create a kitchen diner with seating space and utility area.
The brief is a common one, but each client goes on to work with us on their own unique interpretation.

The new kitchen extension provided a foot print of approx 8.6m by 5.6m. We took a small space out of this footage by elongating the hallway to provide a utility room opposite a full height, double coat cupboard before entering the new kitchen.
As this is a new part of the house we embraced the modernity and choose sleek, handleless blue cabintery. The bronzed mirrored splashback adds warmth as well as maximising the sense of space.
