This charming weather board house was a bit of an ugly duckling initially with a rotten picket fence, featureless end gable and a garden containing rough grass and the one redeeming feature - the perfectly positioned English Elm (Ulmus quercifolia). The design now leads the eye via a swathe of lawn through a rich tapestry of contrasting foliage and form. The elm has had its canopy professionally lifted to maximise light. The addition of a new picket fence and matching obelisks to puctuate the space as well as and the window canopies with their striking red rooves complete the picture. I designed this project to provide a wonderful outdoor space complete with flagstone patio, seating boulders, gas fire pit and pondless water feature. The impeccable work of Showcase Landscape & Irrigation, Loveland, CO transforms the bare ground into an amazing outdoor living space. The artistry of the team of Showcase constructs the most beautifully sounding water features. Every piece of flagstone is saw cut for perfect fit with attention given to the texture and placement of the stones. Another wonderful showcase landscape.

This project features many different materials in the landscape. Most notable was the boardwalk under the deck and the timber framed deck and patio cover. Accent lighting was added around the property to highlight trees, shrubs, fountains and walkways to add visual interest and extend the usability of the outdoor space long into the night for parties and gatherings.

This small front yard was transformed into a beautiful habitat garden. Ecological Concerns Incorporated removed the front lawn and replaced it with natural habitat space and native plants grown form our very own native plant nursery. Most of the seeds were collected from local watersheds. Permeable hardscape such as decomposed granite, as well as a rain garden and a rainwater catchment system were installed to aid in water conservation.

Add some decor

If the plants don’t quite do it for you yet, or if you want to add some extra wow-factor, consider adding some extra features.
