This bathroom is shared by a family of four, and can be close quarters in the mornings with a cramped shower and single vanity. However, without having anywhere to expand into, the bathroom size could not be changed. Our solution was to keep it bright and clean. By removing the tub and having a clear shower door, you give the illusion of more open space. The previous tub/shower area was cut down a few inches in order to put a 48" vanity in, which allowed us to add a trough sink and double faucets. Though the overall size only changed a few inches, they are now able to have two people utilize the sink area at the same time. White subway tile with gray grout, hexagon shower floor and accents, wood look vinyl flooring, and a white vanity kept this bathroom classic and bright.

Running the marble penny round tiles throughout the shower created a separate zone from the rest of the bathroom. The existing ceiling line and careful placement of the sky light created unique forms throughout the space, which elevated the playfulness and joyous feeling we were to achieve within the design. Going with the fall of light in the space, directly into the shower cubicle, was also a factor in the placement of pale toned carrara penny rounds in the shower zone, ensuring the shower felt more generous than it truly is.

The couple wanted to get ready for work and relax at the end of the day in a luxurious en-suite bathroom. A large Keuco 'Edition 300' cast mineral basin and single drawer wall mounted vanity unit, is combined with two Edition 11 basin mixers to create a double wash area. Above the sink a Keuco 'Royal Integral' mirror cabinet provides storage for all of the couples day-to-day toiletries. The cabinet fits flush with the wall and has integrated lighting units. For example, in a narrow room a freestanding bathtub may not work, and a one-wall layout that lines up shower, toilet and vanity on the same wall will make sense in most cases. (It’s also the most budget-friendly option in terms of plumbing). Maybe separate rooms for toilet and shower make sense? Maybe you want to work with a window above a bathtub or in the shower. You may live in an old house where you can keep some of the original character of the home, or you may be working with a small apartment space. 2 Consider How You Use Your Bathroom
