Home and Living Examiner said: Modern renovation by J Design Group is stunning J Design Group, an expert in luxury design, completed a new project in Tamarac, Florida, which involved the total interior remodeling of this home. We were so intrigued by the photos and design ideas, we decided to talk to J Design Group CEO, Jennifer Corredor. The concept behind the redesign was inspired by the client’s relocation. Andrea Campbell: How did you get a feel for the client's aesthetic? Jennifer Corredor: After a one-on-one with the Client, I could get a real sense of her aesthetics for this home and the type of furnishings she gravitated towards. The redesign included a total interior remodeling of the client's home. All of this was done with the client's personal style in mind. Certain walls were removed to maximize the openness of the area and bathrooms were also demolished and reconstructed for a new layout. This included removing the old tiles and replacing with white 40” x 40” glass tiles for the main open living area which optimized the space immediately. Bedroom floors were dressed with exotic African Teak to introduce warmth to the space. We also removed and replaced the outdated kitchen with a modern look and streamlined, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. To introduce some color for the backsplash and match the client's taste, we introduced a splash of plum-colored glass behind the stove and kept the remaining backsplash with frosted glass. We then removed all the doors throughout the home and replaced with custom-made doors which were a combination of cherry with insert of frosted glass and stainless steel handles. All interior lights were replaced with LED bulbs and stainless steel trims, including unique pendant and wall sconces that were also added. All bathrooms were totally gutted and remodeled with unique wall finishes, including an entire marble slab utilized in the master bath shower stall. Once renovation of the home was completed, we proceeded to install beautiful high-end modern furniture for interior and exterior, from lines such as B&B Italia to complete a masterful design. One-of-a-kind and limited edition accessories and vases complimented the look with original art, most of which was custom-made for the home. To complete the home, state of the art A/V system was introduced. The idea is always to enhance and amplify spaces in a way that is unique to the client and exceeds his/her expectations. Modern sophistication meets minimalist design in this principal bathroom, showcasing a sleek Italian freestanding vanity unit with a clean-lined basin. The large, frameless mirror above expands the visual space, reflecting the high-end marble-effect tiling that surrounds the room. Underneath the vanity, open shelving offers a display for neatly folded towels, while the design elements maintain a monochromatic palette, punctuated by the natural greenery, enhancing the bathroom's tranquil atmosphere.

Located in Church Hill, Richmond’s oldest neighborhood, this very early 1900s Victorian had tons of historical details, but the house itself had been neglected (badly!). The home had two major renovation periods – one in 1950’s, and then again in the 1980s’s, which covered over or disrupted the original aesthetics of the house (think open ductwork, framing and drywall obscuring the beautiful mantels and moldings, and the hot water heater taking up valuable kitchen space). Our Piperbear team had to “undo” much before we could tackle the restoration of the historical features, while at the same time modernizing the layout.

Luxury en-suite with full size rain shower, pedestal freestanding bathtub. Wood, slate & limestone tiles creating an opulent environment. Wood theme is echoed in the feature wall fresco of Tropical Forests and verdant interior planting creating a sense of calm and peace. Subtle bathroom lighting, downlights and floor uplights cast light against the wall and floor for evening bathing.

Varied tile patterns -- including large slate floor tiles and subway wall tiles installed in a vertical running bond, add interest to classic black and white. Warm textures, like a driftwood-inspired mirror and woven baskets, balance this bathroom's monochromatic wall treatment and modern fixtures.

A small bungalow in NE Portland was in need of a bathroom update. It was a quant space with original olive green shower surround and undistinguishable finishes. It did however have beautiful original trim and built ins that were important to keep. The homeowner was brave enough to go with a bold design which paid off in the end. Large hex tiles in dark gray were installed on the floors and half way up the walls to create a dramatic look. Subway tiles were applied to the upper half of the shower divided by a small glass tile liner. The original medicine cabinet, trim, and door knobs were kept to add a unique touch to the newly designed space.

The "before" of this project was an all-out turquoise, 80's style bathroom that was cramped and needed a lot of help. The client wanted a clean, calming bathroom that made full use of the limited space. The apartment was in a prewar building, so we sought to preserve the building's rich history while creating a sleek and modern design. To open up the space, we switched out an old tub and replaced it with a claw foot tub, then took out the vanity and put in a pedestal sink, making up for the lost storage with a medicine cabinet. Marble subway tiles, brass details, and contrasting black floor tiles add to the industrial charm, creating a chic but clean palette.
