This Grant Park house was built in 1999. With that said, this bathroom was dated, builder grade with a tiny shower (3 ft x 3 ft) and a large jacuzzi-style 90s tub. The client was interested in a much larger shower, and he really wanted a sauna if squeeze it in there. Because this bathroom was tight, I decided we could potentially go into the large walk-in closet and expand to include a sauna. The client was looking for a refreshing coastal theme, a feel good space that was completely different than what existed. This bathroom serves the pool for this custom built home. With a bit of a nautical direction, the fun navy and white tile in the shower is a fun place to rinse off after a dip.

Coastal Bathroom

The colorful tile behind the vanity is stained wood and gives the impression of nautical flags. Shiplap walls are the perfect detail in our coastal cottage. The ceilings were stained turquoise to bring your eye upward, showing off the new height of the cilings. Tons of transom windows were added allowing light to flood into the space.

The bathroom in this ultimate Nantucket pool house was designed with a floating bleached white oak vanity, Nano Glass countertop, polished nickel hardware, and a stone vessel sink. Shiplap walls complete the effect in this destination project.

Keeping the integrity of the existing style is important to us — and this Rio Del Mar cabin remodel is a perfect example of that. For this special bathroom update, we preserved the essence of the original lathe and plaster walls by using a nickel gap wall treatment. The decorative floor tile and a pebbled shower call to mind the history of the house and its beach location. The marble counter, and custom towel ladder, add a natural, modern finish to the room that match the homeowner's unique designer flair.
