This ocean-front shingled Gambrel style house is home to a young family with little kids who lead an active, outdoor lifestyle. My goal was to create a bespoke, colorful and eclectic interior that looked sophisticated and fresh, but that was tough enough to withstand salt, sand and wet kids galore. The palette of coral and blue is an obvious choice, but we tried to translate it into a less expected, slightly updated way, hence the front door! Liberal use of indoor-outdoor fabrics created a seamless appearance while preserving the utility needed for this full time seaside residence.

Desk niche is created by using original closet space. Accessorizing for a beach inspired bedroom includes a large sea fan, vintage books in the chosen color scheme of aquas and turquoise's with a vintage bottle and starfish topper along with a tiny Adirondack chair, all atop a floating IKEA shelf! A maple desk on espresso wood floors fills the original closet space and a modern chair completes the look

This Home office was completely reinvented just before the virus hit. The custom built-ins provided tons of filing storage and created the focal point for the room. The dark shadowy room was refreshed with cream, whites and blues.
Lisa Tharp Design
DESIGN NEW ENGLAND magazine described Boston designer Lisa K. Tharp's Coastal Loft interiors - where Beach meets SoHo - as living like "an art gallery by the sea". Lisa's custom 9' tall barn doors, complete with authentic galvanized track mounted near the ceiling, are a strong aesthetic statement that also provide ultimate functionality for this serene office retreat. The room can be opened up along its entire front perimeter, or closed off completely, sharing only daylight through the upper glass. Chunky Mexican table provides ample workspace, while sailboat, antique propeller and "Old Skiff" by Jim Holland complement Tharp's nautical chart-papered wall. Photo: Eric Roth.

Our client loves deep jewel tones and this first floor home office delivers. Her in-person meeting attendees are made quite comfortable in the luxurious, emerald velvet guest chairs. The desk was painted and color matched to the chairs for an undeniably elegant look and feel. The light fixture above her desk belonged to a family member and was important to our client so we included it in the design to give a sense of personalization and bring in a sense of closeness to her loved ones. For this office space, we did floor-to-ceiling custom built-ins. These are not your typical built-ins. With wide shelving that allowed for intrigue with house art and large scale accessories. Zoom background envy, anyone?

THis home office/Guest room is a small but mighty space....being able to get in a trundle bed for those visitors all while you have a home office space for the other days those guests aren't here....is premier!
