The living room is an elegant area with a comfortable sectional and chairs complemented with an artistic circular table and a neutral-hued rug. The kitchen is compact but functional. The dining room features minimal decor with a sleek table and chairs, a floating console, and abstract artwork flanked by metal and glass wall lights. Our interior design team ensured there was enough room to accommodate visiting family and friends by using rooms and objects to serve a dual purpose. In addition to the calming-hued, elegant guest room, the study can also convert into a guest room with a state-of-the-art Murphy bed. The master bedroom and bathroom are bathed in luxury and comfort. We converted the original 1920's 240 SF garage into a Poetry/Writing Studio by removing the flat roof, and adding a cathedral-ceiling gable roof, with a loft sleeping space reached by library ladder. The historic restoration of this First Period Ipswich, Massachusetts home (c. 1686) was an eighteen-month project that combined exterior and interior architectural work to preserve and revitalize this beautiful home. Structurally, work included restoring the summer beam, straightening the timber frame, and adding a lean-to section. The living space was expanded with the addition of a spacious gourmet kitchen featuring countertops made of reclaimed barn wood. As is always the case with our historic renovations, we took special care to maintain the beauty and integrity of the historic elements while bringing in the comfort and convenience of modern amenities. We were even able to uncover and restore much of the original fabric of the house (the chimney, fireplaces, paneling, trim, doors, hinges, etc.), which had been hidden for years under a renovation dating back to 1746.
