Old California Master Bedroom

Stained wood floors and smooth plaster arch with bullnose corners. New remodel added to an old California Mission Revival home. Antique rug, large windows with plaster fireplace and wrought iron bed. The ceiling was crafted to match the original ceiling in the old part of the home. Revitalize, update, and addition on a 1920's Old California home, thought to be a real George Washington Smith in Ojai, California. Wide, thick plaster arches, old farm paintings, comfortable, ranchy furniture give this place a real old world Spanish charm. Hand kotted antique rugs and fine bench made new furniture reflects the original style of Santa Barbara, CA, giving the sense this place is completely original. And much of it is, although it has been completely revamped, adding a larger stair case, wide arches, new master suite including a sitting room with a tv. Maraya Interiors completely changed the kitchen, adding new cabinetry, a blue granite island, and custom made terra cotta tile in multiple shapes and sizes. The home has a dining room for larger gatherings, and a small kitchen table for intimate family breakfasts. A high living room ceiling has been imitated in the new master suite with very large steel windows through out. Project Location: Ojai, CA. Designed by Maraya Interior Design. From their beautiful resort town of Ojai, they serve clients in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Malibu, Westlake and Calabasas, across the tri-county areas of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, south to Hidden Hills- north through Solvang and more. Ingmar and his family found this gem of a property on a stunning London street amongst more beautiful Victorian properties. Despite having original period features at every turn, the house lacked the practicalities of modern family life and was in dire need of a refresh...enter Lucy, Head of Design here at My Bespoke Room.

This 8400 square foot farmhouse respects the building forms, materials, and details of the earlier agricultural buildings of the Santa Ynez Valley. We used reclaimed corrugated metal on the two story water tower office. The stone used for the foundation face and the fireplaces was collected from the river which borders this 100 acre ranch. The outdoor fireplace is part of the large, wrap around porch which overlooks the surrounding fields and distant mountains.

A robin’s egg blue ceiling sits above ivory walls and trims in this master bedroom featuring woven grass blinds, gray and ivory embroidered draperies and a window seat. The dark walnut stained hardwoods dovetail with a dark brown stained hardwood mantel (at left), surrounded by neutral glass tiles on the hearth. Custom wood, an ivory duvet cover and antiqued, mirrored cabinetry is set off by bronze hardware while a Jacobean style antique English trunk provides storage and style. The built-ins were added to enclose a television and add prized storage space in this 1920s home; the mirrors visually extend the space and allow the bed to remain the focal point of the room. The calming, neutral palette is ideal for a master bedroom retreat.
