The current owners were drawn to this Siemasko + Verbridge original and sought to call their own. The lure of the home and site, designed ten years earlier for the initial owners with the goal of creating a house rooted to the ground and composed of natural materials, was undeniable to the new family. Through modest renovations they modified some of the spaces to meet their family’s needs and added personal touches throughout. The numerous entertaining areas indoors and out make this the perfect place for large parties as well as intimate gatherings. Photo Credit: Eric Roth

Coursed cut lime-stone on the exterior of the house continues into the interior in the form of walls and a double-sided fireplace. The fireplace works to screen the dining room from the living room creating an intimate gathering space within the open floor plan. Horizontal curved zinc panels make a sculptural chim-ney to top off the design.

Level Three: We selected a suspension light (metal, glass and silver-leaf) as a key feature of the living room seating area to counter the bold fireplace. It lends drama (albeit, subtle) to the room with its abstract shapes. The silver planes become ephemeral when they reflect and refract the environment: high storefront windows overlooking big blue skies, roaming clouds and solid mountain vistas.
