A hand drawn mural sets the natural tone in the nursery. The blues are calming, at the same time the mountains and clouds are inspirational. The shelf was done in a DIY project with the clients to add that extra natural touch and presents the current favourite baby clothes. The Eos feather lamp adds more texture and adds to the natural and calming vibe in the room.

Custom- made Nursery for under $1000 is possible!!! I spelt many sleepless nights overthinking the design concept and lout for my first born's nursery. I have always loved designing children's rooms and nurseries and now it was finally my turn and I had all the freedom I wanted to design it, minus the big belly getting in the way and a tighter budget!
Although we knew what we were having ( I don't know a designer who wouldn't want to know the sex!) I wanted to keep the room very neutral, and definitely no pink! The inspiration of this room was delivered obviously from over pinteresting countless nursery rooms, and I was always gravitating towards soft neutrals and subdle hints of colour. So I began my design layout and search for all the furniture and décor I needed.... Let me tell you it was not EASY! We didn't have a lot to spend on the nursery and given my taste, everything I came close to liking enough was from restoration hardware or pottery barn..... SOOO I decided to UPCYLCE and it turned out perfectly! Even better than I imagined!!! All the furniture minus the rocking chair was given to us for free and so I antiqued it all using chalk paint and distressed it. The rocker was not origionally a rocking chair, the chair is from IKEA and we went out and took off a swivel rocking base off an old ugly rocker and built it onto the bottom of the IKEA chair! (

A cosy corner to cuddle and read to the baby fills the space before the baby bed find its place under the canopy. A textured and soft rug makes for a great surface for baby to start crawling. The leaf provides more softness for baby to lie on in a cute, natural shape.

A new upholstery gives the rocking chair that has proven to be comfortable a new purpose. Puppy photos remind of the time when another family member joined as a baby. The canopy can grow with the area first covering a pillow corner and in the future the children's bed.

Hand-me-downs make the best decoration! Vintage finds add character in a space to otherwise newly purchased furniture.

A large wardrobe was placed in the room to ensure enough storage space for all the baby things. This allowed us to use the corner with the sloping ceiling as another cosy reading and feeding nook. A side table to place a cup of tea and a soft stand lamp to ensure the right lighting, no matter the time of day.

Everything in this room was made to be invitingly soft and full of texture. We wanted baby to have a lot of things to explore from the first moment, through colour and texture!

By adding not just the new baby toys but also the parents baby toys the room gets an extra layer of personality. An easy care plant like this one gives the room a natural touch and embraces all seasons of the year.
