A parking pad at the far back of the garden also offers a charming place to rest in the shade of directed Red Powder Puff vine. The elevated and contained tree shelters the home from headlights and brings additional shade to the space. Here, the same reclaimed flagstone that directs traffic to the front door ensures the space can hold up to traffic. Photo: Lesly Hall Photography

Yorkshire Gardens
The brief for this project was to landscape the garden mainly to provide a backdrop for plants, plants, plants. The grounds of a converted pub, the existing garden was mainly lawn and a few uninteresting shrubs with slopes and banks rather than useable areas.
The hard landscaping was designed to provide several different areas for sitting, relaxing and above all else feasting the eyes on the huge variety of plants. The oak pergola was not really installed as a feature in itself but would eventually be completely covered by climbers.
Each seating area would provide a different vista from which to soak up the scents and colours of the extensive planting. The paths and patios but above all else the planting have truly turned this old pub into an English country garden.
