This home was inspired by Balinese architecture to extent that the roof and floor tiles were imported from Indonesia, and the special ceiling fans in the vaulted ceiling are made of rattan.
The living room offers an enticing glimpse of the master bedroom, and draws your eye. Access to the bedroom is accessed by a covered corridor planted either side in tropical vegetation.
The master bedroom is a juxtaposition of contemporary and traditonal, and pieces were gathered and placed from existing furniture and accessories from the clients extensive travels, and newly specified pieces. The bedroom theme was developed from a Mokum fabric that has bananas and palm leaves - very Balinese.
Donna chose a limited palette of colour and added further interest and intrique by mixing sheen levels, and by layering pattern and texture.

This setting is all about the accents: colors that pop, pillows with intriguing designs, and mirrors that liven up the walls. But none of it would be possible without the solid foundation of a casual bedroom set. The sum is greater than the whole.

Imagine going to visit friends or family and this is where you get to lay your head down at the end of the day! This room had great potential with an existing wall colour and custom cabinet unit that these clients loved. Often people think to get a fresh new look you need to start from scratch, however that is not the case. We upcycled the existing custom cabinet by painting it with a warm white chalk paint AND we think it turned out lovely! For this space we added a single bed with a rattan petal shaped headboard giving this room a whimsical feel. By angling the bed to the door, we were able to create a welcoming environment. What makes this room stand out the most is the unexpected hanging wall rug. Its vibrant colours and subtle pattern are the perfect backdrop for this small space. Hints of brushed gold, small accents and vibrant accent cushions complete this look, making for a quaint guest retreat your guests won’t want to leave.

Upstairs in the loft's bedroom, the idea of the Moroccan bazaar continues, with a Turkish hand-knotted rug combined with a mid-century modern chair in front of a desk. The large platform bed is flanked by a pair of bedside table lamps on mismatched tables.

This bedroom combines traditional and contemporary ideas to create a truly unique look. There is a bubbled roman shade that matches the bedspread. I love how the pillows are bold colors that help pull the look together.

The recycled door with glass opens to the study. The high bedroom ceilings replace the old upstairs whose ceiling height was too low to meet code.

Setting the tone of this inviting guest bedroom is an accent wall in a Serena & Lily wallpaper. Custom drapes in a thin stripe add another layer of texture to the space. Bright pops of teal blue and yellow set off the white furnishings and keep it fresh.
