This kitchen proves small East sac bungalows can have high function and all the storage of a larger kitchen. A large peninsula overlooks the dining and living room for an open concept. A lower countertop areas gives prep surface for baking and use of small appliances. Geometric hexite tiles by fireclay are finished with pale blue grout, which complements the upper cabinets. The same hexite pattern was recreated by a local artist on the refrigerator panes. A textured striped linen fabric by Ralph Lauren was selected for the interior clerestory windows of the wall cabinets. Large plank french oak flooring ties the whole home together. A custom Nar designed walnut dining table was crafted to be perfectly sized for the dining room. Eclectic furnishings with leather, steel, brass, and linen textures bring contemporary living to this classic bungalow. A reclaimed piano string board was repurposed as a large format coffee table. Every square inch of this home was optimized with storage including the custom dresser hutch with vanity counter. This petite bath is finished with caviar painted walls, walnut cabinetry, and a retro globe light bar. We think all splashes should have a swoop! The mitered countertop ledge is the clients’ favorite feature of this bath.

Small kitchen with a big heart

This might be a small kitchen but it has a big attitude. It boasts ample drawer storage in the base cabinets topped by a surprising amount of bench space. The L-shape / Galley style makes the most of the 1.9x3.7m floor space. Despite it's size, theres room for two to work in the kitchen. A combination of Meteca Woodgrain panels and Trendstone benches provide cost effective, durable finishes. Luna subway tiles, recycled Matai shelves on metal pipe brackets extend the textural themeof the overall design. To keep the noise down when cooking, we installed a Sirius rangehood with an efficient but (almost) silent exterior mounted motor.

Posh Playhouse 2.0

Before purchasing their early 20th-century Prairie-style home, perfect in so many ways for their growing family, the parents asked LiLu whether its imperfections could be remedied. Specifically, they were sad to leave a kid-focused happy home full of color, pattern, texture, and durability thanks to LiLu. Could the new house, with lots of woodwork, be made brighter and lighter? Of course. In the living areas, LiLu selected a high-gloss turquoise paint that reflects light for selected cabinets and the fireplace surround; the color complements original handmade blue-green tile in the home. Graphic floral and abstract prints, and furnishings and accessories in lively shades of pink, were layered throughout to create a bright, playful aesthetic. Elsewhere, staircase spindles were painted turquoise to bring out their arts-and-craft design and heighten the abstract wallpaper and striped runner. Wallpaper featuring 60s-era superheroes, metallic butterflies, cartoon bears, and flamingos enliven other rooms of the house. In the kitchen, an orange island adds zest to cream-colored cabinets and brick backsplash. This cute little kitchen kept some of it’s original charm and character! That’s right, the pine wall cabinets (with original hardware in-tact!) were saved and served as part of the inspiration for the remodel. There’s beautiful greenery outside every window, and we wanted this kitchen to feel light and bright, but also connected to nature. We mixed new white cabinets with the original pine wall cabinets, ran new hardwood floors into the kitchen, then added a fun butcher block top on the cabinets near the range, with a full wall of sage green subway tile.
