Contemporary Victorian Charm. Inspired by the client's 1938 bungalow and love of Victorian era décor, this project merged period pieces with contemporary colors and accessories, creating a cozy, inviting space - perfect for relaxing or entertaining. A beautiful inverted camel back sofa tufted in peacock blue pays homage to the old, while a sleek, glass waterfall table and zigzag multi-colored drapery panels add a sophisticated, modern flare. Round leather ottomans double as additional seating and a multi-color oriental rug ties it all together. Bright pink custom florals lend a touch whimsy to this adorable, eclectic living area.

This Federal house was originally built in 1780 and the current owner reached out to the One Source Team with a desire to add more natural light and modern style, all while bringing back some long-lost historical character. Present features include a copper-plated cast-iron fireplace complemented by a black marble mantle, significant crown and base moldings, and window trims that were added back as a nod to the home’s origins. When I was initially contacted by the homeowners, it was for paint color selection, space planning and placement of artwork and accessories. We began by lightening up the Main Level because natural light was an issue. The Living Room is where the couple spends most of their time in the winter so we needed to make sure this space functioned well for them. They had previously purchased a conversation sofa and chairs and an ottoman. We moved the television which opened up the fireplace for flanking the chairs and ottoman. Conversation sofas are interesting, but you have to have the right spot because they do not work well floating in a space. We nestled theirs in the L-shaped corner. The homeowners did purchase an upholstered ottoman and rug through us to help finish off the space. Abby and I loved working with their art collection – most from local artisans.

Exotic woods, vintage pieces and abstract art is almost the definition of Eclectic Design. When Client H met CURE Senior Designer, Cori Dyer, they seemed to be design soul sisters from the very start! Loving bright colors and mixing old and new is what makes this space unique!
