Florals are always great additions to a modern farmhouse look. This framed wreath with the family's last initial was a nice added touch.

Family room and outdoor Loggia Nestled among the citrus groves, olive trees, rolling foothills and lush fairways of Rancho Santa Fe is Casa Tramonto -- a Mediterranean-style estate for a multi-generational family. The home is laid out in a traditional U shape, providing maximum light and access to outdoor spaces. A separate courtyard connects to a guest house for an elder parent that now lives with the family, allowing proximity yet plenty of privacy for everyone.

The room is wrapped in an apple green paint and features white accent trim. The bright and bold patterns provide energy and a pair of striped chests flank the light blue sofa and provide more visual interest. The oversized ottoman acts not only as a coffee table but also provides extra seating and is on casters for easy movement. A green leather modern chrome chair adds more seating and interest while the shag rug adds more texture to this room. Photography by Med Dement.

The hearth corner used is mitered. The Bowtie shape tile is the newest shape we have created. It is a simple shape but delivers a very mesmerizing look when multiples are put together. The homeowner used our Pesto glaze as the main color throughout the installation. With Quails Egg for an accent on the hearth. With the fireplace projecting a couple of inches from the wall the L trims were used to give it a frame. The fireplace has that modern and at the same time timeless feel to it.

Em the Gem Our lovely repeat clients contracted J Hill Interiors to complete a great room in their Los Altos Hills home. The client wanted a fresh, bright and inviting look for a home where they entertain often and live casually. We pulled color inspiration from an existing art piece and used green and yellows to make the space more youthful.

Our clients wanted a lot of comfortable seating, so we chose a sectional that can accommodate six to seven people, plus two arm chairs and an ottoman that can double as another seat. The layout encourages conversation or watching a movie or sports on the wall-mounted TV. A fire is optional.

Fisher Heck ArchitectsFisher Heck Architects
In order to save a historic childhood home, originally designed by renowned architect Alfred Giles, from being demolished after an estate stale, the current owners commissioned Fisher Heck to help document and dismantle their home for relocation out to the Hill Country. Every piece of stone, baluster, trim piece etc. was documented and cataloged so that it could be reassembled exactly like it was originally, much like a giant puzzle. The home, with its expansive front porch, now stands proud overlooking the sprawling landscape as a fully restored historic home that is sure to provide the owners with many more memories to come.
