Photo by Erika Cooper. The centerpieces of the open concept condo were the Mackenzie Childs' chandelier, dining table, and dining chairs, which the client chose on her own. We designed around these pieces and incorporated them into the room, allowing them to take center stage without dominating it completely. The buffet provides extra storage and helps to offset the stark whiteness of the tile and kitchen cabinets, which the client had no desire to change. Soft pendant lighting over the eating nook in the kitchen is perfect an intimate yet informal dinner for one or two.
Design Matters
What does a designer do if you have client who loves color, loves mid-century, loves to cook and has a busy home life.....MAKE AN AMAZING KITCHEN~
Featuring Signature Custom Cabinetry in 4 colors, doors with mirror inserts, doors with metal union jack inserts, walnut trim, shelves, and wood top, custom color Blue Star french door ovens and custom Heath oval tile~ To add a little extra geometry to the floors, we took a standard 24" square tile and cut half of them into triangles and designed the floor to show the additional texture!

Here, an enormous farmhouse-style walnut dining table is flanked by 8 Eames-style molded plywood chairs. Four Tom Dixon Beat pendants hang overhead. Round, hammered-brass trays complete the tablescape. A view of the kitchen is in the background. It was important to keep styling simple in this open-plan dining area so as not to overpower its modernity. Photo by Claire Esparros.
Ethos Interiors
Simple design and fresh colours were used to update this contemporary home, giving it a relaxed look with a coastal influence. A long rectangular table was used to elongate the space, while ghost chairs keep the area open and airy.

Natural (non-synthetic) materials were chosen that are durable with a longevity that will avoid replacement and the resulting waste. Passive solar design is employed to take advantage of the sun's path.

The Floating Bar:
The condo’s main entry door inconveniently opens into what should be the kitchen nook, leaving the space unusable. The new bar optimizes the area by creating it’s own space.
